Went to a new place tonight, carpet track. great place, brand new. They are going to have a 1/18 touring class (RC18R) BLAAAAAAAA . I need to find foam tires mounted on wheels that will fit my Vendetta. A touring body too. Any ideas?
Thanks

look for wheels that take a 12mm hex.. mostly all 10th scale wheel will accept this hex.. just look for one that has foam tires.. or put your own on there.. just make sure you true the tires....
actually go to this site and ask the guys there... the uk is full of carpet tracks and they will be able to help the most.. http://www.uk-microrc.co.uk/forum/index.php?showforum=192
if it were dirt i could tell you,, but im not a carpet/onroad guy

I found a lot of them on Tower, lots of them with 12 MM hex. Everything seems fine except they are all too wide. The wheels on the Vendetta are 21MM wide and everything for the 1/10 are 28mm wide. I does not look like there is room for the extra 7 mm to clear everything. I am very tempted to buy a set of these from Tower and sand-grind-cut the back edge off till they clear everything.
BTW the Vendetta got here today and it is in BRAND NEW condition. :) I have only run it a little and I can already tell I like it better than the RC18MT I had. For the time being, (READ WHEN I GET A LITTLE MORE MONEY) I am going to run everything pure stock to see what happens. It actually runs very good this way. I remember when I got the RC18 it would not even steer in stock condition.

Probably Spektrum, Novak SPY, Better, smaller steering servo, The upgraded motor from Duratrax. Not going overboard.

If you have access to a tire truer you can true the diameter down to size plus you can easily trim them to 21mm width. It's quite easy actually.

I went ahead and ordered a set of tires/wheels from Tower. I don't have a tire truer yet. I also ordered the 13 tooth pinion. so that will help a little on the bigger diameter. I won't really know where I am till I run the track.
BTW here is a link to some pictures and some video of the opening night. We were all invited to just come see the track and get acquainted. I think it is going to be great. It did seem a bit crowed with 5 stadium trucks running at the same time.

I found these adapters on Tower.

I know they are made for a Mini Quake, but does anybody know if they will fit a Vendetta too?

If your planning o nusing the like of RC18T wheels...then don't as I think the inside diameter of the RC18T wheels is too small and won't clear the rear hubs!
ON the TC wheels/tires...I don't think you'll need to make them narrower to fit, unless it for tuning purposes
I used Tamiya/HPI and Express wheels on my Blaze (UK version) but had to grind away some of the rear hub and rear wishbone so they didn't rub !

My intentions are to try some MINI T wheels. They might not fit either.
Thanks

I personally would say they won't fit!
It might be a idea if you know someone with a Mini T or RC18, is to ask if you can lend one of there wheels and put it up against your Detta and see if theres any way it will fit ;)
I'm NOT too sure if the Trinity wheels will fit ie the revolver (sp) wheel as they seem a lil bigger than std Mini T and 18T wheels
**EDIT**
The inside diameter of a RC18T (Mini T) wheel is 31mm

Hmmmmmmm I have my Vendetta here on the bench. The inside diameter of the wheel is 37mm. Outside of the stock wheel-tire is 58mm.
I don't have the MINI T here yet. I hope the big brown toy truck will bring it today.
Do you have the inside diameter of a 1/10 touring car wheel for a TC3 or TC4 or one of them?
Thanks for the help

Hi Ron,
Sorry I don't own a 10th TC....so I'm unable to measure the inside diameter for you!
The Mini wheels I talked about before (on previous reply) they have a inside diameter of:
Yeah racing Mini wheel = 34mm these will rub on the rear hub and wishbone
HPI 5 spoke wheels = 36mm and I beleive they work OK without having to grind anything (I've not tried these as I sold my Blaze before I bought these wheels!!)
10th TC wheels are gonna have a larger inside diameter ;) I'd guess around 60 - 65mm
Hope that helps?

I just received my Vendetta yesterday . Basically popped it out of the box, threw some touring car foams on it, changed to a 13t pinon and dropped it on the track.
I am very pleased with it so far.
The inside diameter of the TC wheels that I have are 46.76mm, the width is 30mm.
Bought a used tire truer off of flea-bay. Should have them turned downed for the next race.

Well that sounds good. I can't wait for my tires to get here. They didn't come today, no mail Monday, Tuesday I hope, have a race Tuesday night.
These are the tires I ordered.

Hope they work. Why is a tire truer needed? Won't these tires be true when I get them?
Put the Spektrum Rx in the Vendetta last night. So all I need are tires and the 13 tooth. I also ordered some green springs too. I think it might help to stiffen it up a little for the carpet track.

They will be pretty true when you get them. The biggest part of the truing it to cut them down to the size you want. I plan on cutting mine down to the stock size or smaller the get a lower stance on the track.

My 1/10 touring car wheels/tires got here today. They fit perfect. Just like everyone said they would. They are a little bigger in diameter so I put the 13 tooth pinion in. I hope it will compensate. The stock tires are 58mm and the touring car are 62mm
I am ready for the carpet.
Thanks

Right out of the box. The only things I have changed is wheels/tires, springs, and pinion. Well I also put in a SPY, a spektrum a 1400 mil battery and better servo. Probably order the better motor next week.

Looks good. You will be happy with the way it handles. The only grip I have is about the stock electronics, the speed control seems to have no brake and slams into reverse. This causes erratic cornering, so I usually coast into the corners.
I should have some foam track video after Friday.

The tc tires looks good on the detta......:D What about traction rolling, does it do that when you try to take a corner.

My name is Tim and I am new to this forum. I recently bought one and found out pretty quick what works and what doesn't. First is the gears. You have to use the Duratrax pinions. But I did manage to convert an Associated spur so I can use any pinion. The motor mount doesn't accept any other size than the 380 without modification. The wheel adapters for the Mini-Quake will not work either without modification. But the long screws that hold the tire on will bend easy because it has to stick out to far. But, touring car foams are a dirrect fit. You can find them in 26mm, 28mm, and 30mm. I bought a set of foams with 32 shore for the rear, and 35 shore for the front. They were 30mm wide so I put them in my truer and narrowed the. But they didn't rub even at full width. I think a set of purples for the rear and double purple for the front will be the best setup for carpet. I ran the stock 380 with a GP 1100 against 18B's with 17 an 16 turn motors and set a new track record and the A-main record too. I also kept the 16 tooth pinion. I trued the tires down to 58mm and it has plenty of punch and is good for around 28 mph. I hope this helps out for anybody needing to know. Tim:) :)

Tim: Good to hear from you. I ran my Vendetta for the first time last night. As you can see in an earlier post I have the 28MM (JACO 2154 PINK) touring car tires. I used a 13 tooth pinion and green springs. The tires had WAY too much side bite. It would traction roll by going into the corners just a little too hard. I could not do ANYTHING to get this car to side any. We run an oval so all turns were to the left. I finally learned how to drive it a little better. by the end of the evening I was getting respectable lap times. I just ordered the wheel adapters for the mini Quake and have my dremel waiting. I also have a full set of LOSI MINI T LOSB1144 (purple)tires to try. They are a little smaller in diameter and a little narrower. I think harder too??? Isn't that what the color indicates? I also ordered another set of touring car tires, this time I ordered Jaco 2155 purple. I am hoping 1 set or the other of those tires will help. I have some other things I am going to tweak too. I am going to try 70 wt. shock oil and limiters in the shocks to get-er-down low. Of course them I will have to readjust everything. Have you had any trouble with
your drive shafts? I talked to a fellow today that has a lot of problem with them until he replaced them with the steel CV drive shafts.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPTT4&P=Z
He said these work very good.
How about your diffs? Are you sill running the gear or balls?
Thanks

as soon as you add a brushless motor,,, you m want to consider changing to ball diffs,,,,
im also using 70wt oil but in the front only,, the shocks still seem soft,,,,, may want to keep using the hard springs,,,, but I dont drive on carpet so im not 100% sure

I have broken 5 axles so far. 2 from goofing off with reverse. You can send them back to Duratrax , but they will break too. I am going to go to the aluminums for sure. Even with the foams I am using, I can get around the oval pretty smooth, but try any quick moves and it will traction roll. I am going to try the purple/ double purple setup this weekend and see what happens. I lowered the buggy down also and put 50wt all around. But it still seems softer than the stock oil. I even put some 1000wt diff fluid and it still seems too soft. Our track alternates from oval one week to roadcourse the next. I ran a pack through it on the roadcourse and it seems to do allright except for trying to brake hard. It will do a frontflip. Hope you guys have goodluck with your buggy. I really like mine.

I tried the purple rears and double purple fronts and it helped out alot. It still has alot of side bite but I put a bead of superglue along the sidewalls to let it slide some more. I beat the track record for the road course by two laps. I am running lap times close to the 12th scale stocks. I could get lower times if I had a speedo with brakes instead of reverse. I have to coast through the turns after the longer straights. I am going to get some foams with about 45 to 47 shore and put 70wt oil in the shocks. I am trying to get this thing to handle as good as my 12L4. If you guys are interested in running at our track go to TCRC Racing.com for some info. It is in Huntington WV. How much more power does the VR3 motor have compared to the stock one? Later. Oh by the way, the picture of the orange buggy looks exactly like mine. Sweet.:)

Good work. Isn't it neat to watch the guys with that POS RC18 when we do this stuff?:) :)
I ran mine again last night. I run an oval instead of road course. I am still running my 2154(pink) tires that were giving me so much traction roll last week. I ordered 2155(purple) tires they haven't got here yet. But I solved the side bite issues. I installed 70 weight oil in all shocks and put in a 1/4 inch shock limiter. This keeps it very low to the track, and it is very rigid I have only about 3/8 ground(carpet) clearance. Now it corners like on rails, the only time it traction rolls now is when I do something pretty stupid. I can come into turn 1(or3), lift off the throttle just momentarily, set it in the turn hit full throttle again and it just pulls on around the corner. get to the other end and do it again.
The little car was very fast, and I am still running the stock motor................ the RC 18 guys are all running to the hop-up parts counter. BWAHAHAHAHAHA

It does matter, it makes him look dumb for chimbing in and wastes everyone's time looking at something that hasn't changed.
I'm wondering something too.......... I see you go around to all these different forums and post your so-called "reviews" on stuff, that you change your mind about within a month, and videos of you wrecking every other corner and every jump - yet in a real world sense none of it's relavent and not of it's supported by any data, it's just a bunch of worthless opionionated basher stuff more apporpriate for "Beat My Truck.com." You're like a kid with a lotta money that has no respect for the equipment or the other drivers on the track.
Otherwise I think it's the mods' job to chastise other members, and unless you're really going to offer up something worthwhile - how about listing something that isn't just cut and pasted nausiatingly all over the web before you start suggesting giving advice.... you sure haven't.
