M18_racer and I had a chat last night about this and I thought I had a way this would work. But I think I was WRONG. Now however I think this WILL work. Can any of our local experts confirm this?
Here is my crude drawing.

Why are you using a brushed motor with a bl esc.........i thought only the big dogs could do that.......

I am not saying I am going to. I just want to know if that will work.
I think some of the "big dogs" use MAMBA 25s like this on low turn brushed motors in certain classes. And MAYBE there is a cheap, tiny, brake or reverse programmable 3.6-9.6V brushless ESC out there that will work
(like the drawing shows) with our stock MICRO T motors. Just maybe.
And my reason for this is I think the stock motor has plenty enough power for me, and it is cheap and easy to replace. Along with this a servo change and the tiny GWS Rx on the 75 band and I get away from the 27 band.
On the other hand...... I could buy a NOVAK SPY the MICRO spektrum RX and a new servo and it is all done. BUT THAT WOULD COST about $200.

If you want to let your LHS know by smoke signals he has to pick a new ESC for you you can give it a try.....

If a BL ESC has no brushed function (some have like LRP and schulze) then it will not work

okay so the only problem with what we configured is instead of "cutting" or not using the battery plug from the esc. it "Y" connects to the motor and battery... well im going to order that brushless combo and i might try it on that motor... but i dunno if i wanna risk messing up that esc..

Instead of trying to do this and damage the esc it would be more affordable just to buy an esc to use with the motor.......;)

Its not really a tip.....i have not seen a bl esc used with a brushed motor.....and im not talking about the Reedy Bl esc's either.

Most brushless controllers are for brushless motors only. There are some made that will work with brushed motors as well though. The Mamba25 most certainly will not though and shorting all 3 motor outputs will generate smoke signals.

The Schulze U-Force can drive brushless and brushed motors though, it even detects a brushed motor has been connected because you do short all three motor outputs together as shown in the diagram.

The Castle Mamba Max can also drive brushed motors, it even has two different modes. It has as forward/reverse mode and a competition type mode with lowest loss and forward only drive. Check out the Mamba Max manual to see how each mode is connected. Please note the Mamba Max doesn't detect motor type automatically, so be careful if you're giving it a try.
