hey guys,
i broke a dogbone today, i glued it but i dont know how long it will hold, do you think rc18t dogbones will fit?{i have my eyes on some nice blue aluminum ones on ebay ;) }
also, any resonable prices on brusless motors with esc that will work on this?
i dont feel like spending 129$ to get an upgrade from the site

How did you break a dogbone man.....i guess the only answer to see if the 18t bones will fit would be to do a comparison between the two.

im going to order rc18t aluminum dogbones ;)
im found my brushless setup
Cobalt B Brushless Motor -possibly 40mph :D
and the phoenix 25
i need to see if there are any metal gears that will work for this
or do you think the stock plastic will hold up?
and will it run well with the stock battery?
 :p  :D

Metal gears for what......i thought it uses balldiffs. Check to make sure that the frequency cap is still at the end of the motor, how many does it have back there, you might need to add one or two. Make sure to keep all the battery and motor wires away from the antenna.

The Pro-pulse dogbones are 5cm long... The RC18 ones are 4.9cm long. They're interchangeable.

nevermind about the phoenix - 25
the people who told me about it didnt tell me that it would have to be heavily reprogramed to work for my setup...
alfred
12-24-2006, 12:02 PM
What do you mean by heavily setting up the esc.
monstermaker13
12-24-2006, 04:58 PM
the phoenix - 25 is a brushless airplane esc that can be programed to work certain ways

Can someone tell me where I can find a link to the associated 18B dogbones. All I can find are 18t which are too small (about 1.7in and PP are about 2in.) Thanks.
And yes I see some on ebay, but I would prefer to get it from an online store then off of ebay. And also, what else might fit on a PP. The main piece I want to change is the main gear in the back. From what I gather, if I want to go faster with more torque, I need to change that gear, otherwise I will have a smooth round piece of plastic after a couple of minutes.

Just get the PP CVDs...
Wait, they dont sell any. :S
I dont even see dogbones for sell at their site...
Hmmmm.
These might work, I think the pro pulse dogbone is 53mm?
This is 53mm...

The real issue I see with this truck is low# of parts, high cost of parts, and exclusive distribution from radioshack-internet...
This seems to have cut out the aftermarket companies from selling-making stuff for this car, thus you cant just drop by your LHS and find a plethora of aftermarket stuff like you can on the other 18th vehicles...
Rock on though!
I used to own a radioshack red-arrow.. :P

I think it's more of the fact that these thing are fairly new. I mean they really don't have any of their own "aftermarket" stuff for sale at RS. Besides Xmods are only sold at RS and they have plenty of aftermarket parts for those, just look on atomicmods.com. You can get a hummer all metal for $500, not sure why you would get it, but hell, it's metal.
EDIT: Also thanks for the link, but how do we know they're 53mm? If you are certain that they are, I'll order two sets and see how they fit on my PP. The other thing is the main rear gear (not the ball diff).

You said that you couldnt find replacement dogbones for your Pro-Pulse from Radioshack? I bought the last one at my Radioshack, and it comes with the suspension arms and other goodies. The catalog number is 60.9509. If you want to get it from a local store, then call them up, have them run the number, and if they dont have it, you can have them Direct2U it, or Ship-to-Store with free shipping. Its kinda pricey, considering we buy them for a fraction of that...
Hope this helps... :)
