For our wintercompetition we now have an offroad class which is a lot of fun. After a look at the 1st race I decided to play along but with not a lot of costs.

My lhs came with this:
http://www.carson-modelsport.com/de/modelle/automodelle/modelle118rtr/rtp/404001/produktdetails.htm

OK, it is a little bit "plastic" and the electronics sucs but it is good looking and does cost only 109 euro.
The best thing on ths car is the ball differential, nice large gears and no play on the gears, also the pinion/spur is compleetly sealed from the outside.

For a bit sharper steering I altered the servosaver with a longer arm and standing still you can see it has difficulties but driving it is just enough to drive with on our track.

Oh well.... there were 11 drivers (most of them with M18T and Mini-T), I qualified 5th and finished 4th and 5th (2 finals) so there is potential in this car

A movie and pic of our track:

It does look good, even the sealed spur gear makes it better then the open spur gears that i have seen. And another thing, i dont think the vid did it justice.

COUGH (http://www.one18th.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41414)

I talked to someone who also raced against it recently. He said it ran, and that was about the extent of the comment on it.

Its too bad Carson didn't put some more effort into materials and at least supplying it with bearings and oil shocks. It would have had some great potential.

(Roelof, what are you using to keep those waves in that carpet material during racing?)

I know tuningsparts are underway but if I will spend it is a question. I will see how the fun will be this year and then if I want to go on next year. If so, then there will be a better chassis.

The waves are made by cardboard pipes cutted in half and glued under the carpet.

what type of glue?

Im just dissappointed in carson for not giving more attention to the great design.

I do not know what kind of glue is used but regarding the materials and the person who made it I think he did use a kind of automotive kit.

Carson has always been a low price and low quallity product so do not think they will make something real out of it

I bet it will run and handle better if the option parts were installed.:D
