Three new lines introduced at Chicago!

If you didn’t make it to the Hobby show in Chicago then you missed out! You had the chance to meet the Tekin Prez, the Tekin Vice Prez, and Scooter the Race Team Manager, and more significantly, you had the opportunity to preview Tekin’s new line of speed controls. The response was overwhelming--the most frequently exclaimed comment was “I can’t believe how small all of them are”! There is actually not one, but three new lines that Tekin introduced, the R1 series, the FX series, and the B1 series.

The R1 Brushless/Brushed series speed control is not only the smallest 10th Scale Brushless/Brushed unit currently made, it is also the most versatile and full-featured. Among the many user adjustable settings, the R1 series introduces an On-Board Temperature Monitor and provides Lithium-Battery-Friendly Voltage Cutoffs—all a part of Tekin’s new AFT Design Technology*.

The FX series carries on Tekin’s tradition of producing Performance10th Scale Brushed speed controls. The FX series continues to deliver professional level race-winning performance, and yet is only 1/3 the size of its predecessor, the G11 Pro! The FX series was also designed Tekin’s proprietary AFT Technology*, featuring On-Board Temperature Monitoring and Lithium Battery Voltage Cutoffs.

The B1 series follows the hugely successful Mini Rage System in Tekin’s commitment to provide performance level products for 18th Scale drivers. Designed for Brushed motors, the B1 series again features Tekin’s AFT Design Technology* and, well, it is so small the wires weight more than the speed control!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other big news: Mike Dumas has joined Tekin’s Race Team! One
of the fastest modified drivers in the country, Mike will play a big role
in Tekin’s research and development of new products for RC Racers.
----------------------------------------------------------------

*AFT—What it is: All new Tekin speed controls are equipped with Lithium Battery Voltage Cutoffs that also make use of an exclusive method of battery status detection and protection. Tekin’s AFT Technology determines exactly when the battery pack has reached a near-critical state and subtly adjusts the speed control’s behavior to alert the driver. AFT Design also incorporates an On-Board Temperature Monitoring system. Simply put, heat is everything, and this feature allows users to monitor their entire system for problems before they can inflict damages. The LEDs on the speed control are used to indicate system temperature and assist in diagnosing everything from drive train failures to over gearing. Tekin made some of the very best speed controls back in the day and their chargers were the hot ticket as well. I still have some of their products and these new ESC's look great. Keep it coming Tekin!

I wonder how small the B1 is compared there other 18th scale esc.:D I would really love to finally go bl and not have to worry about brushed motors anymore.

The Tekin B1 speed control measures a mere .95" x .95" and they also have the B1-R which has reverse.

Have you seen the specs ????

180 motor only.... that is so 2001 (when the 1st Micro came out), now you want an ESC which can handle modified 300 motors.

But have you seen this ?

Looking at the mounting holes it seems a micro servo.

But doesn't that Tekin have slightly different spec's? Isn't it slightly torqeier but also slightly slower if I remember correctly? .

That diigital 3014 is the one that you currently have right Mr.Ronbeck?

yeah I have the 3014, and it's almost too fast!. I thinkt he KO servo is the core design fo rhte Tekin versions. Have you seen specs for it yet?

I think I did see the spec's some where. Sorry, but my memory is not the one you want in a spelling bee:p

I'm thinking it may have been in one of the new mag's I was reading. They had a section on new products, and I know the Tekin servo's were in there. I will dig it up when I get home.

When my 18T speeder gets put back together (you know one of those million and projects:rolleyes: ...lol) , I am leaning towards upgrading the servo to that Ko unit you use. Good reveiws and a decent price make it attractive. I was checking out the Tekin if it offered the same spec's and size:cool:

For a high speed runnig I think it would be too fast!

But It did a great job in my rc18turd with the Hyperion 6K, 7 ib 1200 pack and mamba esc track racer. But I could be tempted to sell mine ;) I want another Futaba s3102 servo for the m18.

COUGH specs. (http://www.one18th.com/ShowNews1164623349---9-showfull.htm)

Dont know if thats 4.8 or 6 volts.

Im wondering if the Mini servos are Hitec 81s size? I hope they arent 1/12th size. :P

Hey Ron you said it was too fast, couldnt you cut down down on the travel speed of the servo using your radio.

ronbeck
12-07-2006, 06:58 PM
I have normal frame rate and fast frame rate speeds on the my radio for servo speed, and i use the normal(or slower rate). But you have to remeber the speed of the servo is more related to the volts that it's being fed. I can dial back the epa, but that will not slow the servo down. It will take track time to get used too, but our track is closing so ohh well!

I would sell my m18 but I love it too much! But my m18t will go on the chopping block!

Thanks for the fast reply man........why dont you just keep both.:D

I have no use for it with the track closed, and I already have a few too many shelf queens. I had Fun with my rc18t outside bashing it around but hated it for the track, and the m18t is major improvement over the AE truck. But I have other 18th/16th scale micros I would rather bash.

Tamiya Tamtech Frog 8Kv jwerks motor Mamba 25 esc and 2 cell lipo
TL M-lst c4 9,200Kv motor Jwerks esc and 7cell Ib 1200 pack

Is that the Jwerks bl combo, if so how do you like it.

I like the jwerks combo alot! Both the motor and esc are super smooth! The jwerks motor flows soo much better then mamba, and even with it's size it's easier to mount! The Jwerks esc just lets the c4 scream! And the 8kv motor throws the m18t around like a tissue.

It has no setup so it's super easy to use, but isn't race legal. No reverse lockout. Some are able to dial there epa back to get a double clutch effect for reverse, buit it all depends on the radio.

Is there any cogging effect at all. I know this is off topic but i would like to know.

ronbeck
12-08-2006, 12:04 AM
The only cogging I have had with the jwerks esc is with a hyperion 6k motor. I have never had a cog or lag effect with the other motors I have tried.

I have run the folllowing motors with the Jwerks esc:
jwerks 6kv
jwerks 8Kv
Hyperion 6K(only one to cog, but ran great in the frog)
Castle 6,800kv
C4 9,200Kv

And I have tried all the motors and esc in the following cars:
150 wb micro
m18
m18t
M-lst
Tamtech Frog

Powered by the followings batteries:
Venom 2cell lipo 1250
6 cell gp 1000
6 cell IB 1200
7 cell ib 1200

Hope this helps.
and jwerks is sold here: http://www.allspeedhobbies.com/

Man Pete, thats ALOT of testing:D ....so much time and so little time;) . Can't wait to hear how that other test ends up.

...............by the way, how many TLT's (or trucks that started as them) do you have? Or when will you stop wanting anohter one;) ? Hard to blame you there though:cool:

ronbeck

We have a total of 3 TLTs. 2 are mine and the 3rd is my son's. He wants a 10th scale basher. But hasn't wanted to wrench so it sits in parts.
