View Full Version : YourMicro.com Site Upgrade Update

As you've probably noticed, we have successfully upgraded to vBulletin v3.6.0! We ended up having to set up a second server to do the database munging and then copy it back over, in order to not take down the other sites; only issue was that we were forced to roll back to an earlier backup for the upgrade to work, so posts since Sunday AM were lost. You'll see that we've got the default skin at the moment, because we wanted the forums to be online for posting as soon as possible, but don't worry, we will of course be applying the new UI to the Forums! Thanks for your patience during the upgrade, and get ready for a number of exciting new enhancements! :)

It seems like the mods have more control, like in peoples avatars....i noticed that yesterday that only mods are the ones allowed to upload an avatar for members. Which is good.................Keeps the content nice and clean.

And on that note, thanks for changing my avatar for me Alf. If you go to "User CP", then to "Edit Options", then all the way to the bottom, you can change the forum skin. The one at the bottom of the list is the one that's in the good 'ol YM colours.

I just want all the members to know that the space to the right will be used to put information and ads.........so thats why that space is blank........

The right side for me is very wide so the forum is kind of squished to one side. Is this normal?
Namuna

The "squished" forums is because the right side is soon to be filled with more YM content! :)

If it bothers you then just go to the bottom of the screen and on the left hand side you can switch the format version to two.

This is what version 2 looks like.....a much fuller screen if you dont like the new one at all then just switch.;)

Thats a huge amount of space. Oh I know revenue and all, but putting it on the left would help "fit" ads to a certain proportion while leaving the rest of the browser to fill up however big the user has the window. If you put them to the right, you are automatically stopping how large the forums can be expanded.

I really dont have anything to do with it, i asked Dave and thats just what he told me. I like the new look and the features, way better then the old forum.

oXYnary, how do you like it now that some of the content has been added? Can you explain what you mean RE left/right - the site will always expand to fill 92% of your screen regardless of resolution, and any space not used by the fixed width sidebar is allocated to the Forums. :)
