hi guys,im coming from a hobby called xmods, there basickly 1/28th little cars that we upgrade the crap out of.but unfortunatly i started reading up on these micro rs4"s and ended up selling my xmod so now im here.my main goal in it is to pretty much surpass my xmod wich did 33mph on speed checker wich was pretty darn quick for the little car.Suggestions on what setup i need to go around 35-40 would be gladly appreciated, also from my experience with my xmods i know i have to get some parts in alloy as i know high powered cars snap the shafts easly so suggestions on that would help too.
thanks,

alfred

Dude.
I have 7 xmods. None of them work. I am so glad to find someone else that has come over from the darkside.

Everyone on this board is really friendly, and like alfred said, you'll love it here.

What setup are you running now? did you get the RTR or the kit? If you got the RTR, the first thing you're going to need to do is get a new ESC that can handle hotter motors and more cells. The ESC that comes with the car is not worth $80.

To go really fast, you're better going brushless than brushed. And for batteries, go li-po instead of NiHM. I'm sure you know what li-po cells are considering you have owned an Xmod. "Brushless" refers to motor technology, and in order to run brushless, you need to replace almost everything on the car with either alloy or carbon fiber. You can get your car going wayy over 40 mph with a brushless motor, it just depends on how much motor you want to buy.

Just ask around, and people will help you on your quest for speed. You may want to search the forum for "100mph micro", because there was a post on it.

Anyway, welcome to the forum!

That's a great score for the price. A complete RTR, charger and everything. I'm concerned with the differential description tho. See how it handles before you go buying a new diff tho. That setup doesn't need any alloy, you're good to go.

Welcome
