duratrash?! i love this thing! it handles well, speed is alright.... battery is bad... knuckels - i dont know what everyone is talking about... i havent broken anything on mine yet. but, im not jumping off of ramps of crashing into curbs or anything. maybe you can put your 480bb race to work in one of these :D i would definitely buy it... $130 for a RTR... thats cheap!

You can bypass the Duratrax name and get a kit at the same time so you can put better quality electronics in, build it yourself, and get a better price point.

Yep, just like how Duratrax markets the Anderson MRX-4 as the Mini Quake.
jaejw1
01-18-2006, 11:11 PM
so which one is it,, the anderson one comes as a kit,, not a rtr.. maybe it would be best to buy the anderson just as long all the parts fit.. i have a radio already for it,, and i wouldnt mind spending the extra cash and getting a decent servo... mg ofcourse,,
does anyone have the anderson???

anyone who has the duratrax has the anderson.
Same car.
Your just not getting the crappy electronics.
(of course they are sold out... might contact stella to see when they get the next batch)

well looks like i will be getting the anderson,, cant beat the price.. i already have all the alum parts i will need lined up.. and i cant wait,,, going to power it with the mamba 8000kv motor and just share the esc from the rc18t.. i had to order a motor shaft adapter sine the pitch of the spur gear isnt exactly 48... it is a metric 48 pitch not a standard.. so pinions are hard to find,,, robinson racing

rc18t in race ready condition... want to see if the mini lst wheels/king pins will work
What kind of racing are you doing that you would want the oversized tires? That added rotating mass wont be beneficial for racing.
jaejw1
02-19-2006, 03:06 PM
it is on a 10th scale track,, everyone with a micro has a hard time.. and i have a 8000kv mamba.. still waiting to hear from "big-kid" to see how well the king pins work on the rc18t... others that have put the stock mlst wheels on have liked the results..
oXYnary
02-19-2006, 03:12 PM
Especially with a 8000 mamba going to bigger tires is not beneficial. It will take forever for you to reach top end, the mamba will heat up more, and you will loose runtime. You should drop down to a 6800 or a Hyperion instead.
If you are racing such a rough track, why are you even considering a vendetta since it is a buggy?
jaejw1
02-19-2006, 06:49 PM
just because i want another mini. i have several cars already.. i have used the stock size wheels on the rc18t at the track,, and now im using half8 wheel and it runs way better,,, actually there are more ppl using the half8 wheels than not,, that race there..
the vendetta i have read a lot about and also followed on the forums and i like what i have read so far.. like everyone says.. "a true mini buggy"
and the 8000kv mamba if geared correctly would not heat up as much i have been runing the larger half 8 wheels for over a month now with no problems,,, and before then i only ran the triinity wheels,, i understan the mlst wheels are bigger, but i can gear it to wear it needs to be.. just as others have done,, 60/8

well i live in socal, and the track i go to,, have races for mini's just as long as they have enough that wants to race..

ok finally i got the vendetta.. runs great.. quick for my living room,, and it jumps pretty good also.. i was surprised ,, only thing is the chassis slap.. nothing that a lil heavy oil wont take care of.. other than that i cant wait to take it on the track,,, this will be my dedicated dirt minicar,,, i have all the hop ups for it,, and i cant wait to change everything over.. i will keep you guys updated..
by the way,, half8 wheels will be going on this thing soon..

Glad to see that you finally got one man.....yes please let us know how you like it.:D
jaejw1
07-19-2006, 06:48 PM
i iwll just as soon as i can make it to the track,, so far it seems cool.. but i havent done anyhting great with it,, i do have a lot of hop ups for it,,, but i will see what stock will do for me,, cant wait to take it to the track,, i supposed to be a better offroad racer than the rc18 but the only problem is that parts break quicker..
alfred
07-19-2006, 07:04 PM
If the parts break that fast then why dont you put the hop ups on there now.:p
jaejw1
07-19-2006, 11:13 PM
just waiting to which will break first
jaejw1
07-21-2006, 04:58 PM
well it isnt a virgin anymore.. i really liked driving the thing,, maybe because i wasnt overwelmed with speed like my rc18t.. i will be upgrading the motor to duratrax faster upgrade and also better batteries.. and adding more heavy shock oil.. cant wait to get this thing rolling again.. no street bashing for this thing..lol
alfred
07-21-2006, 07:07 PM
Well let us know how well it does on the track....:D
jaejw1
07-21-2006, 07:50 PM
so far so good.. i like it,, need to do some set up changes but just the way it is now,, and if the track was 18th scale.. i would not change a thing.. including the motor..
this is a quote from someone on another forum..
http://www.18thscaleracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=108&postcount=9
basically..
BermbusterHere is my take on the two buggies. the RC18b is more durable. It can take some good hits....its flexy and squirrelly. The Vendetta is fragile. It is nimble and handles well....just dont crash it.....What Im saying is for a newbie or a crashmaster go with the AE. A more experienced smoother racer go with the Vendetta.
Both are good buggies. You can make the RC18b less squirrelly and you can make the Vendetta more sturdy.....Im just glad we have choices....

well i had mine out at the track on thursday for its maiden voyage.. everything was stock except for the half8th wheels.. the track is a 10th scale indoortrack the current condition was hardpacked and somewhat dry almost bluish.... i wasnt so sure about the detta the first time around.. my confidence in the product wasnt all that high,, i knew from reports and testimonials that the buggy was good car but i needed to see for myself..
there was one huge double in the middle of the track that the buggy just couldnt clear.. and having not break anythin my confidence rose..
enter the ib1400--- lastnight i took it to the track again.. frshly peaked ib1400 and half8th wheels,, the buggy ran across the back straight like a scared mouse.. (well not that fast.. my rc18t with 8kv mamba is faser) and took the large double with no problems.. im sure if i were using crime fighter tires and if the track was a lil moist.. i could overshoot the landing,,, but as conditions presented themself i landed it with high marks..
one guy on the driver stand saw the buggy and asked which car was it and he was amazed at how SMOOTH the car was.. it is very smooth.. lastnight the only thing that broke so far was a front shock mount on the tower.. done by someone else..lol.. so far that was the first thing to break and i have all hop ups ready for others that might break aswell..
cant wait to get the vr3 motor.. then i will call it quits as far as making it any faster.. by the way.. i love the esc on the thing,, seems to be very smooth.. might add heavier diff oil in the front though.. and i might not even change the shock oil.. the thing as is soaks up all the bad stuff on the track,,

Glad its doing well for ya man.....keep us in the loop.:D

I'm considering it... Looks like it's a cool buggy... Might need one just to play around on some dirt near where I run my MRS4... I will definately need to buy a peak charger first... Still running AAs. :o

well i bought another motor for it,, the vr3 high rpm motor.. and using it with the ib1400's the buggy was noticeably faster..
my tires are crime fighters on yokomo 24mm wheels. ,,,
the buggy had troubles jumping the tracks largest jump.. a double.. the buggy would always come short of landing the jump..
i read on another site that you could change the timing of the motor.. so i did so,, and it did make it faster.. but the track had already had a new layout by the time i got back to try it,,
the new layout is a lot faster and smother and the dirt is softer..
with 3 small doubles and a washboard section..
at home i switched out the esc since the thing was getting overly hot with the timed motor.. i put in the gm racing v3r and installed deans plug on the batts... HOLY JEEZUS!!!! this thing is a rocket.. took it to the track and wow this thing i bet could keep up with a 19t 10th scale truck or a stock buggy,,, i had no problems with it while at the track,, but with speed comes a cost.. ... the front cvd's were breaking.. and i shaved the diff pinion,,, i think it was from me landing on the rear tires while still on throttle..
so far i have replaced the front shock mounts on the tower from plastic to alum , the rear outdrives are alum aswell as the cvd's.. and the front cvd's have been replaced with alum.. oh and the esc.. this buggy is a lot easier to drive than the rc18t.. and soaks up the rough stuff with stock shock oil. but heavier shock oil would make it jump further and higher... so i might go up to 35wt from the stock 25wt. . the buggy is fast and capable.. i love this thing... i prefer to drive it over my 10th scalers. even my brushless truck...

Atomic makes steel CVD's, they are cheap and work quite well. Jaejw1 is right....This Buggy is Awesome! IMO the best 1/18th scale car out right now.

Im doing good man......long time no see on the boards......yeah i just think the steel cvd's would just last longer.....aluminum can twist under pressure.

true and there have been those that have complained about this... i havent had mine done anything nasty yet.. but that isnt saying it wont.. .. but i never thought a 16 dollar motor would have as much speed as it does.. .. the current gearing is 16/45.. once i get it running again (LHS ) doesn have the parts i need.. only towers.. i will give 13/45 a try.. i also have on the way 49t spur..
the atomics are a better cvd from what i have read on the forums.. so when the time is about right then that is what i will be goiing for..
i dont think i will need anymore speed than what i have right now.. but i will be buying more motors just incase the advanced timing shortens its lifespan..
im just so excited about this buggy.. driving it outside is a no no for me,, track only.. i just got anti sway bars for the rear and half8th wheel adapters,, both items from stomic..

Jaejw1, if you think it is fast with the IB1400's, you should try it with Lipo's....its crazy fast on a 2-cell, 7.4volt pack......This is my combo and it works great! No more discharging cells down to .9volt/cell and they are much lighter then a 6-cell NiMH pack.
jaejw1
08-03-2006, 02:09 PM
well i really didnt want to go with the lipo's.. but i guess i will have to.. i guess when i buy the duratrax ICE,,, which will be my next big buy.. then i will consider buying lipos for both my mini's and 10th scale.. but for now i will stick with the IB's.. couldnt imagine going any faster.. i love it..

good thing about the detta is that it has adjustable timing on the motor

So you mean to say that the Vendetta comes stock with an adjustable motor.;)

So you mean to say that the Vendetta comes stock with an adjustable motor.;)yes.. makes it as fast as the hop-up motor,, and if you get the hop-up motor (vr3) and advance that timing,, then you are in business..
