I have a few one way fixes that I saw during the Sunday race. This is the fix the problem with the tabs breaking on the front plastic assembly.

1) boil the part in water. This will make the plastic more ridged and stronger.

2) If your part is already broken drill out the spots where the plastic pins would be and put metal pins in place of them. Glue them in if need be.

These are the two fixes. Let me know if anyone has found other fixes.

FYI. We did try the GPM Pro One-Way and the three people who have them at the track broke them after the first race. One of the guys were able to open the unit up and fix the problem. Then they replaced the outdrives with the HPI ones since it is stronger metal. The other two people through theirs away.

The guy had a piece of real small copper tube. He was swishing it flat and cutting it to length. He said he has to change it once a week or so.

I was going to try to use the metal pins that are in the dogbones and see if those are long enough. They might be smaller in diameter than what I need.

When the HPI one-way first came out, I had to have one, without reading or hearing anuthing about it. So I bought it (it was actually a special order part that an employee at the lhs and I gave them cash before he got there). After one round of racing, The "ears" broke off the side of the housing. I bought the GPM unit hoping to avoid this problem. However, After another day of racing, theGPM unit was dead. One of the bearings had gone bad and galled the shaft too. A $60 mistake. I then bought 7 parts trees just for the frint diff housing. I boiled them all in water for about 20 minutes (this is an old trick my friend told me about). As a result of the boiling, the next diff housing has not broken yet (even with a speed 300) I've broken dog bones and wheels, but not the diff housing. Listen to "Other Cents" guys, let those of us who have experienced this stuff help you out.

Woody,

I was wondering if we should purchase a new kit and boil the whole kit in water before assembly? Especially the front Knuckles that some people tend to break more often.

what part of the nuckles break? is it that little nub that stops you from steering all the way? because I read you can just cut that off for tighter turns.

No the bottom shaft that the screw goes into breaks off it you hit things just right. I have broken two and they were both on the right side of the car.

Yes they do, Yes we have tried it, No they dont work.

The problem is that the part usually breaks at the very top of the joint which the brass collars will not cover that area.

I think woody's idea of boiling things has been taken a bit too far here. I agree, sometimes it would probably help, but it depends on the plastic. I know that nylon parts (like the upper deck) was the basis for his theory. However, I don't know that it was meant to work with parts that are glass filled like the diff housing. Now I'm not a chemical engineer, but it couldn't hurt, but I don't think it will help either. But, given the fact that his car on the track was a hell of a lot faster than mine, I'll just do what he does.

If someone got a brand new micro what part trees should they boil?

xxcysxx, the one way is not the problem, but the stock housing. I am going to talk with GH Hobby about it. They already have a working design with the front ball diff so they should be able to come out with an aluminum replacement part for the stock housing.

TGRupert, we are unsure about boiling parts and if they actually make the parts better, but we seam to thing it won't hurt. It is possible that you might melt some parts if you boil for too long. Let us know how it goes. :p
