Dang that is nice Jon.....so how many MLST's do you own now....or is that the same one.....Like the rims and tire combo on that one....so hows the handling....Does the CAW hex's fit with no mods.

Alfred,
Same truck......just different wheels/tire setup.
The HPI setup handles like a DREAM!!!! So reactive!
The CAW hexs fit perfectly.....and I HIGHLY recommend that you look at the CAW Axles as well. They are a bit longer, and provide a more secure nut fit on the thread.

That is kewl!
I guess with a harder tire and lower profile it helps with the handling!
Have you tried any other wheel adapters?
I know that the CAW ones require the longer axle as the adapters them self are wider than other wheel adapters.

I have tried the Trinity adapters...and they dont fit correctly. They seem to no slide all the way on the axle (either stock or CAW). I think the inner diameter of the hex is so small at some point that does not allow it slide all the way on.
You can purchase the complete hex kit from: http://shop.tinyrc.com/product.php?productid=16907&cat=0&page=1

Thanks Jon for the link......and another question if i may ask....how are the stock parts, like the stock CVD's- were they beefy enough or did you replace them because they broke....Just want to know because this is going to be controlled by my G/F, she doesnt get the handle on things yet, shes rough around the edges when it comes to the control of the vehicle....I figure that she could use the MLST as a practice vehicle........I really dont want her on my M18t just yet.....lol....:p

I just ran it on a BMX track today (soooo fun)!
I will say that it rolled a couple of times...and I did bend the front driver side CVD. I bent it back when i got home!
Works like a charm now.
I would consider maybe thinking about upgrading them.

Alfred, i've tossed mine a bit, but noting too spectacular. I saw a guy do some damage with a "few";) cartwheels. That killed his Fr/RR diff's and maybe the gears? But his CVD's seemed ok. They maybe a bit tougher than we expected:D . But of course the diff gears seem to be THE weak link right now:(

My rear diff is toast! :)
Running 11.1v lipo on a Tekin 5400 BL setup.
Need to get a replacement. Also..i have had one servo go out....does not turn. I hope Losi will replace the servo.

Considering that only the minor things like the strain on the diffs and drivetrain it does seem to be a tough truck....I hear another street racer coming on.....:D And once again guys thanks for the info......:p

Bummer to hear about your broken parts Jon. I haven't "heard" much about stripped/broken servo's though. Did the saver give up as well? Let us know if Losi does.
I'm getting worried about dropping in my Hacker now:eek: ! I want to expierence a BL motor, as this will be my first (still virgin to it:D ). But I don't need to have some diff gears go up in smoke just yet. We don't have access to parts locally yet:( ! I know of a couple of guys that have done this and their trucks are currently hung up too. I picked up a 3 cell to use with it, but it'll make the parts issue even worse. We need parts!
Jon, what kind of damage do you think 2 Krystals will do with a 2 or 3 cell? Same results as your Tekin you think?

BK,
I called TL, and they are sending me new Diffs and replacement servo for free....so dont worry about parts being not available locally. They truck does come with a warranty.
Back to the diff issue...i think it started when I was jumping it at a local BMX track...and then just got worse from there. I was doing some pretty hard bashing...and the ground was not as soft as I would have liked...but I could not pass up some triple BMX jumps!! (SACRIFICE the DIFFS)!
As far as Dual KRYSTALS, honesty, we have not had time to test that setup yet. I plan on doing that this weekend.

I think before running BL you guys should invest in some diff grease. Tamaya anti wear grease works well for them as well as kyosho diff gear grease#5000. This will help with the shock load from big jumps and rapid excelleration from the hot motor.
My suggestion would be Kyosho 1000 in front, 5000 in the rear and tamaya antiwear in the center.
i think you'l notice a big difference

Wow thats good to hear they're shipping out new parts to you Jon. Thats pretty good custoner service when they send you a whole new servo. It almost makes me want to go "break" something on mine so they can send me replacements:p
I've got diff grease down on my "to do" list, just haven't gotten around to it. I'll see if one of the Tamiya shops has that particular stuff, otherwise i've got the black AE grease I was planning on smearing in there.

Free time is a horrible thing for me, I jammed the mamba 8kv into my MLST and modded the battery area to accept packs from my rc18t. bad bad thing will follow
update
ahh bloody hell, I broke another wheel when it contacted my foot at low speed and broke the hub out again. Biggest draw back so far

Broke another wheel...that seems to be a pattern. Look at upgrading that area.

out of the box bone stock it is.
HOWEVER people like us like to "tinker" and as such well we do things we can do, but often with out asking SHOULD I do this...
:)
much like the man who determined a 509 rat will "fit" in a gremlin, we also discover stuff like this breaks.

Be sure not to over tighten the wheel nut. Especially with the stock wheels and wheel hexes!
The hexes do not fit the wheel very good and if you over tighten the wheel nut it can cause the wheel to crack or break.
Rich T. from Losi suggested putting a washer in the wheel so the fit is better. It seems the wheel hex is not wide enough to sit completely in the wheel.
I use a washer on the outside of the wheel before the wheel nut to help spread the load. And make sure not to over tighten the wheel nut.
But I am planning to run 2.2" wheels and tires very soon!:D

yeah I broke one when it was stock and now one with the mamba but both were at fairly low speeds. And i dont tighten the nuts down that much.

Dont forget to look at using the HPI Super Nitro RS4 wheels. the are a great combo to use with HPI Rally tires.
I have a pic of it in some threads here.

Yeah I saw your pics of the SN wheels/tires! As well as CAW's pics.
I am planning to run a set of either Super Nitro wheels with either rally tires or some 2.2" rear buggy tires!
And after seeing quietfly's MLST with the MRC buggy tires and wheels I will definately be getting a set!hehehe
big-kid has a set of Super Nitro wheels with 2.2" buggy tires on them! He's just waiting for the wheel adapters to get here!

Might sound a bit ***, but I need some of those things you have on the body clips...they make these trucks for little people, lol?
actually as you must know I can deal with the body but getting to the batt is a mo fo
Once again, just bill me.
Are you just referring to the pull tabs on the body clips? they are easy to make...
All you need is small zip ties and fuel tubing.
Email me if you need the instructions.
