wow that looks great!

whatever happened to the WWS nitro concept?

and why arent the distributed in the US? Akura2 has one of the 2wd WWS's but he couldn't compete with other 1/18th's at the track simply because he couldn't get different tires for it :(

There used to be some little place in northern Washington that was importing WWS.. I even had them in my bookmarks.. which are long gone since I switched to Firefox.

EDIT:

Here is the info I coud find: the site is passworded now, so I am thinking they aren't in business anymore.

Nice......for people who like belt drive.....

I like this setup too.
But WWS is a very small manufacturer and they don't really care what the car looks like (looks like a harlekin). The only thing that matters to them is that this thing is fast and that's what the WWS cars are.

The WWS nitro was only a prototype. There wasn't much interest on this car i think.

Thanks for the link and update.
WWS make amazing small scales. Good to see the 4WD version released :)
I've always liked their WWS Pro 1:24 cars

The 4WD is not released yet. But what the prototype looks like it should be ready for release in spring 2006.
It's still a lot of work from prototype to production. I will keep you updated on this as i "hear" some news myself.

Sweet..

forget the nitro...that car is SWEET....

My WWS actually became very competitve once I got some bugs worked out... not the car...me....

the hadling was squirrely but that was because I had issues with my electronics... once I got that sorted out the car ran great... then the micro racing died at So-Cal... and my time got really limited....

I'm erally liking this car though... I like the new trend that cars are moving to.. the center-mounted motor

I emailed Jeff..

I sold IRC sometime ago. The guy must have shut it down? The car sounds cool. IM sure you can order it fromWWS direct.

Jeff

However, RC Universe has a guy named "Pro" who says he knows the WWS guy and is answering questions about the car. I tried emailing WWS this thread in hopes it is forwarded to the Pro guy.

Akura.. you need to take those 1/10th whores by the ear and make them drive 1/18th!

1/18 onroad is dead over here. All of the 1/10 guys knew from the start that this class would not survive. A lot of the 1/18 guys I believe were also a bit intimidated by the 1/10 cars especially at SoCal. I have seen a couple micros catapulted by 1/10 cars including mine!

With that attitude displayed.. How could it? It was judged before acception. And people who laugh at the hypocritical statements from other scales calling theirs "toys".

It takes dedicated people to come out.

Its ok, if the economy keeps going the way it is, you will naturally be accepting the smaller classes.. if you can even afford the gas to get out.

class was nice and big around here before I moved away...now that I'm back no more 18th scale class anywhere :(

oXYnary
12-08-2005, 02:11 AM
It only takes 3 (or 4 depending on the track). You know Radishack is willing Blind..

BLiND
12-08-2005, 02:16 AM
no fun with 3 or 4 when it used to be enough for 2 8 car groups in mod and a seperate stock class :(

Intelligentsia
12-08-2005, 02:29 AM
Remember the good old days Blind when we had almost 30 micros out? It is really sad to see this class rise and fall the way it has. Now these little cars seem more like children's play toys. I would be more than happy to set up another micro if more people were willing to come out and race but I am not sure that this will happen anytime soon and by that time who knows if any 1/18 onroad cars will still be in production (except BRP of course!).

oXYnary

Well if you are wanting these huge classes initially. Your not going to get anywhere fast. No wonder you all felt it was doomed.

Also, have you looked at the R/C Car Action front page survey? It would show that the interest in micros is still very high. Although 1/8th gas trucks (shudder) seem to be the biggest want.

Intelligentsia
12-08-2005, 02:54 PM
Who is you all? Who would want to race micro when they witnessed the class decrease from thirty cars to three? I don't and this is why I packed up my gear.

I don't really pay attention to what is in those magazines.

Even if there is an interest in 1/18th scale cars, the primary interest is not in racing them.

As far as the WWS is concerned the car looks really neat and I love their shocks. Hopefully they are consistent. If so, they would definitely have an advantage with this setup especially on bumpier tracks.

AMEN!

I still have my ARM chassis'd mRS4 and my penguin chassis'd M18 just in case a class opens up again, but so far I only see 10th scale sedan racing locally.

I haven't been to rialto or socal this year though, I imagine rialto still has a healthy micro class because the location is so perfect (except pit tables, heh).

Rialto is also adopting a regular outdoor asphalt race schedule under the direction of Charlie Barnes.

I would for one actually, becuase there are recessions.. You cant just leave when the going gets tough.

Like I said.. with gas and money.. People will want to race this class.

(BTW I meant the sites front page, not the magazine itself.. Whom do you take me for a 15year fan boy? (Don't answer that))

Also, you might look over this site:
http://www.frappr.com/micro18thand16thscalercracingtracks

Its more areas of the country where its more popular. I theorize more developed areas where everything is "close" together like the east coast work for the smaller scales because of the space cost for both tracks and individuals coming. While you on the west coast have whats commonly called "urban sprawl".

It also favors the north winter areas. Not only because of indoor tracks, but because again, the distance people will want to cart huge amounts of r/c equipment is reduced.

This is what Homer and i talked about a long time ago....you have some areas where they do race micros...and in others you dont....Im not trying to argue the point of all this...but i seriously think OX is right on this one....Over here in VA...you have 1/10th racers own a micro of some sort and they do participate in the races on saturdays.....

I didn't! I watched a steady decline over a period of about two years! Even if that weren't the case of course I can leave when the going gets tough!

As I stated earlier, the primary interest is not in racing these cars. If it were, we would witness greater turnouts plain and simple. By the way, how many 1/18 onroad cars raced at Pottbelly's?

Regardless of how many people race on the east coast, that says nothing for the west and the truth of the matter is that this class is nearly extinct here.

It would be nice if the WWS could resuscitate this class but I am not sure this company has the marketing or the sheer size to do so. "Dr. I think that we have a cardiac arrest!" LOL

It looks like a very nice car. Will this car be more easily attainable than the previous WWS? Are we sure that this car will be sold as more than a prototype?

It has hex outdrvies.. so im wondering what size hexes those are.. I mean it might increase are rim and tire choice..

Well maybe not if the only choice are 1/10th.

I guess thats the biggest factor for me.. Tires.

Finally the WWS car is out. Price is 170€ which ist approx. 180 - 190 $ US. So the car is a bit cheaper than the Xray M18pro. This was a surprise for me, because i thougth due to the lower amount of expected sales and fewer produced cars it might be more expensive than the Xray.

I have been in contact with the American Importer over the last few months (Intrepid RC). It will be $200 +$10 shipping here in the US because of the insane shipping fees (so on this side of the pond the Pro is cheaper). He doesn't want to buy them in bulk as he needs to know how much audience there is.

Im still waiting for him to send me a official press release or at least newer pictures than what is shown on WWS site of the final version before I post at 1/18th.

G-Shock, do you know where I can find these? Again of the FINAL production version. Not the prototype shown earlier. Maybe even a exploded view as well (not sure WWS uses a CAD program).

There are no other photos available right now. I might order one within the next half year, im not sure about that yet. As the first photos from customers appear in german forums i will post them here.
If i get one i will use it in left side battery confguration. I was told this is possible with this car.

Thanks G. If you have contact with the WWS people in some way, ask them to update their website. Geez. Its going to be hard for me to get the larger magazines/sites to pick this up if the companies site still says a release of last year.

BTW: Whats your reason for wanting the batteries left side? Torque steer is with shaft drives, not belt.

G-Shocker
02-07-2007, 12:29 PM
It's simply because ist use 5cell side by side Packs on all my other 1/18th cars (MRS4/M18/M18MT) i just want my batteries to be interchangeable. That's the only reason.
The batteries will be on the right side and servo, motor, ESC, and reciever on the left.
