I have been waiting a long time for this bomb a$$ kit to come out as you all know....got a call today from my buddy Josh at Debbies RC World. They had 8 kits come in....wish you guys could've seen me on my lunch break.....:D I already know what servo and electronics i plan on using....
Servo- Futaba s3102
RX- Spektrum
ESC- LRP Quantum Reverse
All the same electronics i use on all my micros.

Hey I've been there!
I took a trip to Busch Gardens last 4th of July and drove all over the place. That is a large hobby shop over there. They got lots of stuff, but not much in the Micro RS4.
I also went to 2 different HobbyTowns. Man it was a long drive to Debbies in VB from well I can't remember where I was staying. All I remember was that I was 15-20 minutes from Busch Gardens off of that main 2 Lane Split Highway that takes you all the way to Virgina Beach, Newport and stuff.
I still got there card, Phone # 757-361-6681 ;)
But back on topic. So what is that? lol

I just got home a little while ago....putting together what i can....so far its not as easy as building the M18.....just way too many parts to deal with, with the m18t.

Hey alfred, does your servo have a matching spline output from those included in the kit? Is it a stock fit?
alfred
10-01-2005, 01:52 PM
Im using a 85mg servo thats installed in there now.....going to be replaced with a Futaba s3102 later on down the road.
These are the servos that will fit right up in there using the servo mounts thats included in the kit.....
Hitec--
hs81,81mg,85mg
Futaba--
s3101, and the s3102mg
Why are you have a problem. There is a KO spline head also....but i have never tried there brand.
oXYnary
10-01-2005, 03:07 PM
danke for the information. Though does th e 85mg fit the mounts and the servo spline?
I thought it had a smaller output spline and smaller dimensions than the 81 series..
alfred
10-01-2005, 03:23 PM
the 81 and 85 have the same dimensions....also the spline head of the servo is of course the same.....You will not have any problems putting a 85mg in the M18t.

Finally got it all put together.....sorry fella's that it took me this long.....G/F kept getting in the way during the build...The M18t was a pleasure to put together....(just be sure to use the right screws) and everything will be okay. I am happy with the parts and how they all went together nicely...oh and i love the fact that it has front and rear working sway bars..... and i cant forget the nice double ringed servo saver for the servo.....:D
Now all i need to do is fine tune everything, making sure my steering is straight.:p

Believe me i might just do that man.....Still figuring on how to lower the M18t to the ride height of the RC18t. The handling charateristics of each vehicle is going to be so different......If i cant find a way then im just going to have to higher the RC18t or find other shocks that will lower the ride height somewhat of the M18t......
take a look at the ride height of both vehicles.....M18t
alfred
10-02-2005, 11:17 PM
RC18t....
That might be awhile good buddy.....I think the only real upgrade the M18t could use are some really good CVD's.
BLiND
10-02-2005, 11:19 PM
the xray may settle with running gear in it, heh
but still, the extra ride height is cool to see personally, so long as you can get some stiff springs it will make it easier to run on 10th scale tracks

do you think the wieght of the electronics/batss will couse the suspension to droop a bit? you know you can always limit the amount of lenght of the shock shafts. use some fuel tubbing on the shaft before you insert ti in the shock body.
alfred
10-02-2005, 11:23 PM
The electronics of the M18 will be placed into the M18t tom......getting late over here now....I think the M18t will out do the RC18t handling wise. It could use some stiffer springs though....I have the Atomic Springs for the 18t but those are bigger in diameter then the kit springs for the m18t.

You might want to consider some Mini-T shocks. It seemed to drop the CG on my truck quite nicely.

Alfred! Get it running! (And it lowers alot once you get the electronics in it)
(per tires http://www.pmp-com.cz/RC/GALERIE/M18T/M18Td.jpg )
Ok Im a evil bastard, but I would trust GPM shocks as far as I could throw them.. Seriously. Baileysmicro with the real Losi shocks would be best if this does turn out to be the hot item. Not only are the losi rebuildable with spare parts, they are hard teflon anodized meaning they will last longer and be smoother for a much greater time.

The placement of the electronics is just temporary of course....Im getting my electronics this friday.....Just need a DSM RX and a Speedo......All the elects are and will be going back to the M18. I was hoping to place the electronics like i did on the RC18t but i dont see that happening at all....got the RX on top and my esc half way in on the servo.....dont forget that the steering needs to move from left to right with the M18t steering system. Waiting for the shoo goo to harden before i plug everything in. Im also using the MM motor to power this ride.:D

So us the lid mounted in place. :)
let us know if the 18T lid fits it. I may have to note the differences, if any, in the mounting points, etc., on this beast. ;)

Looking good alfred!
homer it looks like the m18t body mounts like how a 18t would be if you ran a rear shock tower up front.
So where's the body pics?
Will you be racing it?
How much is it selling for?
alfred
10-04-2005, 06:37 PM
I got the kit for 124.00 bones....and the body hasnt even been cut or sprayed yet....work is taking a tole on me....Just trying to find the time.:(
alfred
10-04-2005, 07:47 PM
Well i was able to run it today...and dang its nice.....the handling doesnt even compare, much better then the RC18t. It could use stiffer springs though but for now it's fine. Just afraid of really going all out since the cvd's are just composite.:D And another thing i didnt traction roll one bit.....I remeber the stock RC18t would do that when i took the turn. (Stock Setup of course)

oXYnary
10-04-2005, 09:02 PM
And another thing i didnt traction roll one bit
I noticed that as well!
I wonder if those sway bar kits from atomic for the rc18t would help it act more like that with the traction rolling.
It also seemed to react quicker then the rc18t. But the only RC18T one I drove was sorta setup funky with oversize tires on it.
Me and cdog4w are planning to have a shootout here soon between them since we have similiar setups.
alfred
10-04-2005, 09:06 PM
That was the best thing i liked.....no more traction roll.....and another thing i liked was the responce also....I really think its due to the Micro servo and the steering system of the M18t....You also have to remeber that the RC18t used a Sub micro servo....(which im still using) I know a lot of members went up to the Micro and got rid of there sub micro servos for the power of the micro servos....:D
acsubie
10-04-2005, 10:21 PM
i kept my sub micro servo, the airtronics- 2 reasons: 1. really like it in my 18t since its more than enough power wise for my application, centers nicely and the airtronics saver works fairly well...2. i wanted to use the m18t saver for my m18 and its 81mg:p .....will track it the following weekend and depending on results i might look into a s3102
ronbeck
10-04-2005, 10:22 PM

Well i plan on keeping the electronics in the M18t and put the ones i get tomorrow in the 18t......I cleaned up the wires and moved the rx in more towards the front, because looking at the body i see that the plugs will hinder the lid being put on.......I tucked the excess wire's onto the chassis with heatshrink and shoo gooed onto the chassis.....I also mounted the switch to the esc onto the upperdeck......I was also able to move my esc up more on the servo, being careful not to interfere with the steering.

Yeah thanks for the confidence there good buddy. Well got a chance to run it again...been raining here the past couple of days....I dont like how soft the rear springs are when i hit the throttle...The M18t swoops backwards and will remain that way on throttle...this i dont like at all...
I was looking at the atomic shocks i had to see if i could get them on there.....I first took the AE shock retainer and dremeled the bottom hole a bit bigger to fit on the Xray shock bottom then i used one of my left over threaded shock collars to act as a spacer to hold the shock in place......the reason for this is the AE and Xray shock springs are different diameters........
Please take a look.....

That's good to hear about the m18t!
I'll probably be looking into the stock diffs for my m18? I was thinking maybe getting the parts to convert my m18 but it would probably be cheaper to buy a m18t than do a conversion!
So your the one Ronbeck is getting the 18t from! That's kewl!
I actually sold my 18t as well! Not to sad to see it go though as it seem time to get into something else!;)
The RAD 400 is a nice motor! I ran one in my 18t and it was sweet!
With my 1/10th rally tires/wheels on the carpet covered off road track I race on it would lift the front wheels off the ground!!!
I ran a 16t pinion with the 55t spur and it had a good balance of power and speed for the track.
Oh yeah almost forgot

And the m18t is by far smooother to run then the AE trucks. The h8 is a bit a of a pig and takes a lot more effort to find the right setup. And People seem to dump $100's into them and then just sell them off. But my Fav basher Truck is the M-lst. But all have there own quarks or flaws....

It all depends on the gearing of course, i might say around 25mph. Dont worry about the speed yet because there are plenty of hotter motors out there.
