Hi guys, I'm new on this forum,
I like every kind of mini - micro RC cars, I like modify it to extreme. I started modifying a lot of mini Zs and after a while I modify a mini X. This winter I've bought a lathe and a milling machine, so now I can project and build my new car.
Projects of all parts is almost done, I've only to draw few small parts. I've made some of the parts I need, but unfortunatly I do not have much time in summer...I hope you understand...sea, girls, music, etc...:D
These are the main features of my new car:
- 4 wheel drive
- belt transmission
- LiPo powered (7,4 Volts, 910 mA/h)
- Full indipendent front and rear sunspensions with coil spring dampers
- two adjustable ball differentials
- carbon fiber chassis
- mechanics in aluminium and ball beared
- foam tires
And now here are some pictures of some parts...just to tease your imagination...:

differential mount:
http://xemet.altervista.org/immagini/MVC-547F.JPG
http://xemet.altervista.org/immagini/MVC-550F.JPG
...
some parts like dog-bones and dampers are from other cars like mini X and micro RS4.
I hope you will like it when it will be finished!
I will post updates.
Thanks!

Thank you!
Yes I machine my parts, but I can't make gears yet. The one you see in the picture is from this wonderful shop:

Here we are,
the rear assembly is completed, ready to be screwed on the chassis. Everything works very well.
It has about 33 parts, dog-bones and wheel shaft are from mini X, dampers are from micro Rs4 but modified by me. Other 25 parts were designed and machined by myself.
There are 7 ball bearings (2 for every wheel, 2 for differential and one internal to the diff). It weights only 38 g.

thank you homer!
If only I could have a CNC milling machine...I could machine a lot of parts and quickly. With my milling machine I can machine only small parts and it is slow  !
Maybe a day...
This car will be great...pictures don't show it in the right way. There are a lot of imperfections in the pictures due to the light exposition, if you see it with your eyes you cannot notice them.

Wow, this looks awesome!
Xemet - Are you planning on selling kits of this car? You should visit mini-zracer.com and tell them about this! A lot of people have been wanting a mini 4wd car!

For now, I have only planned to finish this prototype and test it, If I find the time (this is the problem...), maybe I could sell these cars in a kit version (i.e. only chassis without battery and electronics).

and with a small hex key you can adjust the height of the car:

This is the car on a TEMPORARY fiberglass chassis. This chassis is for testing purpose only i.e. to test if all distances are right and if all holes are in the right place, and to find the right tension for the belts.
This give you an idea of the definitive car.
The definitive chassis will be in carbon fiber and surely better than this!:D
Good bye!

that is super nice. round the edges of that chassis, make a battery strap and you will be in business !!!

Thank you
don't worry, the real chassis will be much better than that. Not only with edges rounded...
You will see...wait a couple of days!:D

but I will buy one to try...;)

very impressive.:)
try a johnson 250 motor - It should work. ;)

get a orion elite mod motor. thoes are small, have alot ofr torque and top speed, expecially for that little car.

I don't think the chassis can accomodate a 180 size motor. For an ultra fast 130 size motor try using the Atomic Mods Frankenstein, Nuke SM130, Fat Boy, or Super Stock. They are meant for the Xmods but they will probably work with your car.

The motor I've at the moment is a PN S03 for mini z and it is really fast for this size, I'm not interested only in top speed, I could easily mount a 50.000+ RPM motor without problem...but I could run for only 4-5 minutes...
And it is not the best thing having a super fast car if you want to use it on a track.
I've checked specs for the johnson 250 and it have only 19600 RPM at 6V...my motor have at least 30.000 40.000 RPM with 7,4 Volt so it is faster than johnson.
I've purchased a 180 motor from rcmart, and maybe it could be fitted on this chassis, I've about 2 mm behind the motor and 4 mm on the front... I don't know, I will see when the motor arrives.
Thank you all guys for advices!
Sorry for my english!!!

how you can see almost everything is lower than the wheels level, this mean a very low center of gravity, i.e. very good handling...
xemet
09-17-2005, 02:54 PM
pinion and gear, I can swap three pinions, 12T, 13T and 14T.
Almost everything is done  . I'm cutting a front bumper and I've to machine body supports. Also I've to connect all wires from spy ESC and GWS receiver in a neat way.
I've tried it at home and it is very very fun to drive drifting on the marble floor! Of course it is very very fast! It weights 215 g all included...a mini z with a decent set of optionals weights the same...but I've 7,4 Volt and a 4wd car...with real suspensions...very nice!:D
I will post the last pictures when I finish it!
Good bye

so what costs are involved with all that custom cnc work? that looks like on heck of an expensive chassis. one hell of a good looking one but very expensive...

could be $$$, and that's what separates "the men from the boys...in this hobby..." :D
hobbies cost you $$$$, they dont make you $. :)
xemet
09-18-2005, 04:14 PM
no...I'm not rich and I don't have many $$$ :(
THIS IS NOT A CNC WORK!
I've worked in a normal milling machine, a proxxon MF70...
Cost of this milling machine: 230 Eur.
Now, chassis cost:
about 50 $ of gear, belts, and pulleys.
20 $ carbon fiber
3$ alluminim bars
14$ dampers
12$ motor
7$ ball bearings
about 10$ of miniX components
116$...I don't think it is so expensive...
Plus electronics...Spy ESC GWS pico receiver and a H55 servo...about 75$...
Plus 10000$ of my manual and mental work...and my free time!:D But I had not to pay for it :D :D :D
I've read in this forum a man who spent more than 500$ in an xmod. That in my opinion is really a waste of money...
I don't think that one has to spend thousands of $$$ to make beautiful things. Of course, I will be happy if I could have a 3000$ CNC milling machine....but I can't (I'm a student...maybe in the future...) so I use mine...And I try to make the best use of it...
thans

09-18-2005, 04:25 PM
i was not ciritcizing you.... i just know milling/cnc or whatever you want to call it is not cheap.
your right, the actual chassis cost is not as expensive as i had thought.
xemet
09-18-2005, 05:38 PM
oh don't worry, I didn't think you was critcizing me!
Maybe with my orrible english I can't explain very well what I would like to say...
I was only saying what you have said...
It seems a very much expensive chassis, but it isn't...
of course for materials...my work is not in that 116$...
And I was only precising that I don't own a CNC machine ma the smallest (decent) milling machine available on the market...
This to say that you can do beatiful models without spend thousands $$$...
And you can use a milling machine and a lathe also to do a lot of other things if you are interested in making object...so you don't spend this money only to do models...
thank you for your attention!

Hello,
I'm working to produce a small serie of M24-Pro in order to sell them, they should be ready within one month or two. The cost will be determined depending on how much they will cost to me, I think it will be about 230-260 Euro (only chassis with body but without electronics, motor and battery) shipping included. All aluminium parts and carbon fiber chassis will be CNC machined for outstanding precision and quality.
I will keep you informed! All comments/suggestion are welcome!!

I know this is kinda old but i don't come around here much anymore... but that's a really nice piece of work... and very fast too
I collect ALL types of mini RC Everything from Yokomo Puchi Maru and CRT 1/32 to Activ Racer 1/24 and WWS 1/18 (I have some really weird one-off types of stuff, as well as a lot of mainstream RC (Micro RS4, ABC DTMsp and X4, Xray M18 Mini-z etc.)
I REALLY like this car... I hope you are working hard at getting things together to marlet this
xemet
07-16-2006, 03:27 AM
Yeah, I'm working hard, don't worry!
The plans were to have the cars available for April...but...
A friend of mine that had to help me with some parts to machine by a CNC had a lot of problems with his family so he had no time to help me.
Actually, differentials are done, all wheels are done, all shafts are done, plus I have all dogbones, ball bearings, gears, belts, pulleys, dampers, screws, etc.
Parts to do CNC was suspension arms and differential supports.
I think my friend will help me once he has more time...
So the project is not suspended. If he will not help me, I will machine the parts by myself, manually, but this requires a lot of time and a great effort...so I would like to avoid it.
Thanks for the interest in my car!
