Yes you can, there are some members here that have switched the sub micro to a micro.....I know theres some mods you have to do in order to get the servo in properly....check around or just wait until you get a reply..:D

Yes but you have to be inventive.

I use a vertical servo mount to get mine to work and i Love how it turned out.

quietfly,

That looks like the motek vertical servo mount an hardware. Can you elaborate more on how you installed that? Im assuming you mounted it by marking, lining up and predrilling the holes on the tub?
Can you show us a pic of the front side of the servo, too?
Thanks:)

Yip it is, accept that when i got it it was still called team epic. :)

to install it first i figured out all the connecting hardware, mocked up the servo, placed the holder on the server and drilled pilot holes, then i screwed it in from the bottom in .

i'm not using a servo saver, and heres a picture from the front.

the car stand sucks for 18th scale, it was pruchased years ago for my xxx-s so its to big, alot of times i end up using old cigar boxes for 1/18 scale stands . eventually i'll break down get a stand just for it.

I brought it years ago for my team epic chassis.

there is no servo saver i suppose i'll pay for that, but i always hated the Slop they at to the steering.

Quietfly,

Thanks for the quick reply and photo. :)
The mount is actually "raised" off the lower chassis. Did you use the same size (original) mounting screws (3 of them) to hold down the servo bracket? and the (locking?) nuts? what size are they?
no servo saver? you've had no issues of potential gear stripping?

I'm guessing with the hitec hs81mg servo, it would be pretty straight forward to use the hpi servo saver on it with minimal mods?
:)

btw, jaewj1,
the motek mount is available from their website (in colors, crimson red or black) ;)

1) yes it is raise for clearance issues i ran into, Left turns are great right turns however needed help :)
2) I'm at work so i don't have the truck with me here but i'm pretty sure those are 3mm screws and locking nuts i used to mount the bracket up like that. I also used some nailpolish on the threads ( better than blue loctite, but less of a pain than red to take off)
3) i actually switched over to the metal gear set, so there is "less" of a chance of stripping, however like i said before i really don't like servo savers so this is the best solution for me.

The install still looks good and at least you dont have to deal with the sub micros being too weak to turn the tires in grass and dirt.:D

there are some airplane sub microservos that really crank. i looked into them but i decided to just make what i wanted fit instead of just throwing money at the problem.
( i try not to be guilty of what i blame my wife of LOL :) )
