LOL Chris!
Yea, you need to beef those outdrives up to handle the bite of the Mamba :)

i tryed to go out and do some wheelies but the cvds kept popping out of the out drives. I also found some derlin compression sleeves that i think will be a better fit than the brass ones. Too much power with 13.8 volts. Mondo have you made the switch to Lipo yet ? amazing amount of power!!!!

Chris - the FT CVDs popped out of the outdrives, or normal dogbones?
can you give us some insight on the Delrin sleeves, as in where you got them?
Chris, I've just bought an Apache 2500 Li-Poly charger and I am buying my first pack next week.
I don't quite trust Li-Poly as a technology but I've decided it is the way to go and therefore taking the plunge into insane speeds and decent run times :)

Raymond,
I'm running Mip CVD's not the FT ones
the CVD's kept popping out of the outdrives everytime i attemped full throttle from a stand still. my esc settings are on
motor timing : extreme
Start power: high
my throttle curve is raised to about the sixth bar up @ 20.
I like the response of the setup so far, except that it seems to over power the out drives at a standing full throttle shot.
I currently have the eletrifly triton, for my charging duties. It has to be one of the best all around chargers out there. I've been looking at the duratrax ICE, and i might pick it up as a secondary charger (just to have the best of both worlds :) )
The Derlin sleeves i found are made by a company called Watts. They are a plumbing supply accessory I picked them up at my local home depot, however i got the wrong size. so i'm returning them today and going to see if they make them in 5/16's or the equivelent metric size.

Well Associated makes outdrive saver rings now, they are blue aluminum, kinda pricey but nice.

they dont even carry 5/16th at my hone depot.
I assume the purpose of the (compression) rings is to prevent the outdrives from opening up or spreading, right?
well, I'm going to give it a whirl. Im trying a pvc tubing material (clear or white finish) with an ID of 5/16inch. The same tubing product used for water filter hosing, etc.
Its not 100% rigid like the copper rings, but free is a good deal.
They also sell this stuff for about 0.20/foot at home depot.
If this doesnt work then , I'll try the 1/4inch tubing. Its a tight fit but, this stuff is somewhat flexible and a little stretching of this stuff wouldnt hurt it. :)

I found mine at Canadian Tires...but I guess that's only in Canada;) . Here's a pic of what the packaging looks like. My Home Depot didn't have these as well. They had every other size except for this one.
