My RC18T had a cracked cup on the standard steering link arm and although it clipped onto the ball fine, I was a little wary of running it in this condition

I had been calling one of the larger hobby shops daily and I got tired of the HS not having the FT Ti turnbuckle kit in stock.

This is my compromise and it works great... :D

It consists of Thunder Tiger 1/10th scale turnbuckes that I found in a local HS today and ball-cups from the same shop.

Nice job:D The cup's look tight on those stock ball cup's, have they been coming off okay when you want them too?

I also used the larger 10th scale turnbuckle's on my truck, and switched out all of them. I also went with the larger 4-40 cups and studs, since I wasn't sure they would fit on the stock studs, but I guess they do.

Thanks for the tip

Nice Mondo, makes the steering rack stand out with purple ball cups. Do the ball cup ends bind up the steering since there bigger then the stock ball cups.:)

After reading your reply I drilled the cups out a little and now they dont fit so tight :D
In fact the drill was a perfect size, so they turned out just great :)

Thanks Big-Kid ;)

No Alfred not at all, the steering has clearance and is just as responsive as the stock setup

Hey Mondo you might as well stick with the turnbuckles you have on there now. There thick and by the looks of it lots more durable then the 18t titanium set.;)

Guys here a tip that will help ya with your ballcups. This makes for easy removal of the ballstud.

Just take your Dremel ( I just love this thing ) with a small drill bit on it an drill a holle threw the ball cup this will save major time when you want to get to your diffs or chage out other parts.

I was thinking of doing that but i didnt want to lose the strength of the ballcup. So how does it hold up doing this little mod. I might just do that anyway. Thanks for the tip.

They handle just as good now than they did before. I use a small drill bit an only drill enough for my hex head driver can fit in. This mod alone with a good set of hex driver ( I use all hex screws) ;) makes chaging and taking things apart on the RC18-T easy as 1-2-3 :D

Since I change out all my screws an use hex head screws ( rc screwz or hexcrews) It has made it very easy to put together an take apart my RC's. I've had no problems with stripped screws either. Hex Screw alone with some good tool make any good simple.

Intergy Titanium Nitride Hex Wrench Drivers

Dremel with a few acessories

These are a must have at the work station.

I see you are well prepare Alfred;) I just got tired of not having th right tool an stripping out the head of the regular screws so I said I was going to upgrade my tools before I upgrade my car so I went out an spent a little $$$ but it was well worth it. Now I can put my RC18-T kit together with ease and do all the mods alone the way :) Alfred you will enjoy that ballcup mod

Dang that was a great tip that you suggested

lockmouth , just got done doing that small but really helpful mod to the ends of the ball cups. Take a look at the pic.

Alfred you should do it to all your ballcups . That is what I did.It make getting to the ballstuds so much easier. Also you don't have to go threw the trouble of popping the cups off every time.

I see you are already enjoying it.

I just got done doing the ballcups for the shock shafts......and this little MOD which helps in a big way is a great tip....Now its going to be so much faster and less frustrating taking the shocks off and also the turnbuckles. Especially changing the oil out of the shocks man.......

Great tip

One concern: Constant removal of the ballstuds will cause the threads in the plastic where the ballcups screw in will wear over time.

I'm not knocking your idea, it's great.... :)
