Chris,
Looking good, before you know it that chrome spinner will be replaced with a mean, green power machine :)
What bodyshell is that? It's going to look wicked once completed

i can't wait to get my "green power machine" either, however we just got like 10 inches of snow last night so i could not play now even if i wanted to.
the body is a 68 mustang 302 i don't honestly remember where i got it from as i have about 30 unpainted shells in my hobby room. if i had to guess it was a bolink body.

quietfly,
Yup, that has to be the Bolink bodyshell, they're hens' teeth now since Bolink stopped producing Micro bodyshells.
Who did you order your Mamba from? It will be with you soon enough then comes the great job of tearing the RC18T down and fitting the Mamba25.
I find my Mamba 5400 runs quite cool in the RC18T compared to just how hot the 6800 gets in the M18.
I attribute that to just how much space there is under the can. I intend on glueing some fine mesh over the cooling hole under the chassis as the Mamba's can doesn't use the recess like a 300 sized motor does. This will help keep dirt out of the chassis tub.
Other good news is I think I've worked out how to make a cover to keep the dirt out of the pinion/spur.
I'm still working on it and "when" I have it all worked out I'll Post a "how to" on this.
Keep us informed on your mean green street screamer :)

I ordered my mamba from Towerhobbies, I think they have my credit card on speed dial. they were running a $30 off $199.99 sale so i made out pretty welll.
I think i sovled the the dirt in the diff issue by filling the diff with diff lube. i was thinking of using some scrap lexan to make guards for the spur and the motor hole. sort of like we used to do onthe hpi MT like a one way flap that would let stuff go out but not in.
I'm looking into finding foams to run on the green monster, for now i have the stockers, and a set of tires that have a "monster masher" type tread.

I've been very busy i finished the body, however pictures don't really do it justice. the heart on top really jumps out at you almost like its radioactive.
Also there are metalic green flecks in the black paint which give it a tranlucent liquid effect.
I've added a front bumper and rear wheelie bar. I'm now working on a undercarriage chassis stiffening brace. it should be pretty sweet. but for now enojoy these pics.

Chris,
Awesome, it looks great.
Trinity Dirt Hawg wheels/tires too I see, nice :)
From what I can asses you want your RC18T to be a little Monster Truck :)
The wheelie bar is nice too, where does it originate from?
Don't expect any reverse to forward wheelies from the Mamba, the ESC doesn't allow for that, but find enough traction (the hard part being "enough") and she'll launch them front wheels like skyrockets on the 4th of July :)
I see an Novak XXTra RX in there too, nice! what cells will you be running. I do recommend the URC X61 (http://www.unitedrc.com/store/product.asp?BrandId=7&ID=177) packs they are a big improvement over the kit pack believe you me :)
Is LiPoly an option you're examining for your RC18T?
Anyway I am looking so forward to your feeback after completing your maiden run with the Mamba.
I do recommend you use the kit pack to get the Mamba25 tuned and tweaked with your PCM radio. I have two PCM FM TX's (Hitec Agressor SRX and KoPropo EX-1 MARS-R) and they can be a little more demanding when it comes to their advanced features and the Mamba25 ESC. I usually do this with the car on a stand.
However when using a budget 27MHz AM TX the Mamba is a lot easier to set up - but who would dare run a Brushless RC18T on 27MHz AM? Not me that's for sure :)

The Wheelie Bar is made by New Era. Dang man love the closeup shots of the 18t. Looking good, really good.

sorry guys i've been meaning to update but these swing shifts are killing me, ( 4pm- 430am sun, monday, thursday, 830am-4pm tuesday, thursday) So i got my mamba and started the great tear down. one of the things i never liked about the truck was the slop in the steering assembly, so apart it's come. i'm currently experimenting with several different options to make the steering assembly smooth and stiff. i've machined some CF in the rough shape of the steering linkage and used 2.6mm hex bolts.
I also graced my "little money hole" with a hitec 81, and the metal gear set, losi on road foams, CVD's all around and made some battery straps to secure the lipo.
I'll post pictures when my wife decides i can have the camera again, or someone tosses a bucket of water on her and she melts!!!! LOL!

quietfly,
I saw a set of bearings for the RC18T for sale on Ebay. The seller was "RCBoyz" It looks like two bearings, that should smooth the steering out a little but won't cure the slop.
It will be a question of time before someone releases alloy steering linkages
I'm looking forward to the photos :)

Hey Mondo, Integy already has them out already. I ordered a set from The Pit Stop, and they should be here in a couple of days. IF USPS isn't slow like they have been:(
It only comes with the 2 arms, but Full Force makes the linkage in aluminum. GPM also had a preveiw pix of their steering set. That has all 3 parts in aluminum, but no word on any release date yet.

I have a bunch more photos to show what i'm up to now.
all i have left to do on the truck is solder the deans,

I like your Vertical Mount servo mod, very nice.

Dang man, very INNOVATIVE....i like the way the servo horn is upside down, does it clear up the steering issues by doing this.

well i have not run the beast under motor power, but under sneaker power ( when i give it a great big push with my foot) the steering is Much improved. i used a piece of 2.5mm CF to make the linkage, and i used 2.6mm screws to make all the connections the result is a silky smooth steering assembly. I have to mention that the veritcal servo mount from team epic is about the most versitile micro accesory i have used it in at least 4 micro type builds it really gets the job done.
I can't wait to get her on the road, i'll posts updates as soon as i can.
-Chris
on a off topic note, has any one seen an austin mini body for the micro? i'd love to do up one for my mini monster.
