so you got yourself the Mamba 8000kv bl huh, how do you like it so far. Beats buying motors twice a month does'nt it.:D

twice a month,, it was more often than that,,, i have only been on the board since december,,, lol..lol..

but hells yeah this thing is sick,,, i tried it with 10 cells,, oh my gawd,,,, i would need a velodrome in order to run this thing..

but im going to keep it at 7 cells,, maybe 8 when blind gets more in stock...

Doesnt the motor get hot with that many cells. And does your BL cog.

jaejw1
02-17-2005, 08:04 PM
with 10 cells yes it gets hot,,, but not with 7 cells,, i can touch the motor all doy long with 7 cells,, and the cogging only starts when my batts are low,,,

What's the point of running 7 cells when it can't even be controlled with 6? (You're just losing runtime)

jaejw1
02-17-2005, 08:35 PM
actually i have been able to do highspeed runs and watching it turn the corners on my street,,, racing the cars and impressing all the kids,,and adults... actually 10 cells is useless,, i dont need than,,, but i did change my spur gear to 60t and left my pinion at 14t.... with the radio i can control how much power is used,, and with it set to low i can race on the tracks.. or i can just have some finger discipline

alfred
02-17-2005, 08:41 PM
you should put the BL in your MSF, and see how that goes.

jaejw1
02-17-2005, 09:07 PM
well i already know that i cant really control it well on the street,, too many small works,,,, but after im finished with my new 480 race motor,,,,( yes another motor) then i may buy a brushless for the sleeper...

Your SON will be sooooo happy that his RC18T has a Mamba BL. lol-----:D

jaejw1
02-17-2005, 09:31 PM
first he has to learn to drive it,, lil baby steps,, thank god for the atv on the radio...

I was just joking, Jae---harmless joke that was all. So your really lovin the BL. Did you find it easy to program the ESC. It took me almost an hour to program mine, i drank way too much coffee so i was getting so impatient and frustrated.

jaejw1
02-17-2005, 09:47 PM
np... yeah im liking it,,, took me about 15 minutes to set it,, and reprogramming is a snap..

so will you be getting the Xray truck when it hits the stores.

jaejw1
02-17-2005, 10:35 PM
depending on price,, i may get it for myself

alfred
02-17-2005, 10:54 PM
I was just checking Xrays site out and the M18t looks nice. Too bad it took them so long getting it ready, im happy with the 18t. And how come you havent bought any hopups for the truck.

jaejw1
02-17-2005, 11:13 PM
well ,, im doing a lil at a time... my next thing will be the t-bone bumper,, and i have changed out the stock shocks to vcs shocks...

but i will try and get the things i see will help,,, maybe some titanium things,, or cvd's..

alfred
02-17-2005, 11:14 PM
So how are the stock dogbones, are they holding up well.

jaejw1
02-18-2005, 12:02 AM
so far so good,,, the only thing that broke was a rear stub axle,,,,

jaejw1
02-18-2005, 12:03 AM
one thing for sure,, im not trying to do any stand still wheelies,,, in fact i cant,,, maybe i need to change the timing

alfred
02-18-2005, 01:47 AM
why would you want to do wheelies anyway. Just having fun huh. So how are the foams holding up and what is your set up with this 18t speed demon of yours.

jaejw1
02-18-2005, 11:17 AM
well i just changed out the 55t spur for the 60t spur,,, i have a 15t or 14t pinion,, i forget which,,, the vcs shocks,, still trying to find the best setting fopr adjustments,,, with the springs soft,, unadjusted,, i can do highspeed turns with no problem,, but with them set on hard,, fully adjusted,,, they seem to ride stiffer but on turns the car thinks iit is in a circus riding on 2wheels..

i have foams in the rears,, and rubbers up front,, i have good control this way.. a 7 cell batt pack gp1100

the settings are all default except for the start setting,,, i tuned it to max.. i might change the timing aswell,,, not sure though,,, im liking the run times..

too bad i cant fit gp2000 or 3300 on my car... dont want to do li-pos,, too much money already spent on cells,, and charger

02-18-2005, 02:20 PM
how is the run time on 7 cells?

-Chris

jaejw1
02-18-2005, 09:10 PM
not long,, maybe 10 minutes,, i havent really timed it,,, but that is 10 minutes of speed runs,, nothing else..

alfred

Try to lower the stance of the truck to handle corners better, thats what i did. I use Front shocks all around, if you still have the stockers then you can change out the long shock piston for a smaller front piston. For the front, i used the outer shock post holes and for the rear i used the inner hole.

planned on getting the alum skid pan,,, saw this guy at the track who had this,, with the 6800 mamba,, and he had wway more control on the straight than i did,,, because of the extra wieght... which caused beter traction,,

alfred
02-20-2005, 03:24 AM
Yeah i was checking the skid plate out too. It would be a nice hopup for the chassis, but will it stop the chassis from twisting like the stock chassis does.

jaejw1
02-20-2005, 01:36 PM
i dont know,, but that 6800 mamba keeps flying buy me,, at controlled speeds,, and i cant even stay straight,,,, wheels wont hook up... i tried the lil pin tires,,, and then some diggers,,, the diggers were better.. but still hard to control...

the extra weigght of the other one,, made it more contollable..

I thought you had foams in the rear, what happened did you take them off or did they get chunked.

i have these in the rears for the track,,, dirt track at socal...

alfred
02-20-2005, 02:37 PM
So how do the tires fare, how do they hold up in the street.

jaejw1
02-21-2005, 12:21 AM
i dont run them on the street,,, i replace them wit the foamies,,,

also i have noticed a significant reduction in speed since i changed the spur gear to 60t,,,, i may chage it back to 55t..

I know this has been covered elsewhere (and is probably on the obvious side), but settingg the rear diffs looser than the fronts should increase high speed stability and rein in the "spin out" factor. Play with your diff settings and see if it helps. It seemed to have helped on mine, but I only have a Reedy Mini Mod motor and I've never raced it, so I'm not sure how it would hook up. I also run the Pro-Line Dirt Hawgs in anything resembling "off-road" and have been very happy with them.
