whats up everyone

i just recently installed some integy mini-t shocks to replace the stockers for a bit more durability. i figured i'd post a little "how-to" just incase other people are wondering. it's not rocket science but just wanted to make things a bit easier for everyone. not sure how to install other mini-t shocks seeing as how i never owned one but i'm sure it'll be very similar

the integy shocks make the job pretty easy because it came with everything necessary to install them. they are also a bit longer which increases ground clearance a bit, another huge bonus. included in the front and rear shock package should be:

- shocks (obviously, but needs oil. mine have 30 wt)
- 2 screws for the top mount
- 2 spacers
- 2 screws for the lower mount

to mount it on the top of the shock tower, first you must remove the ball studs with the provided allen wrench. then install the shock with the spacer directly onto the tower. the spacer doesn't give enough room between the top of the shock and they tower so you may want to, and probably should, also add another spacer so that the shock can move freely. one word of warning before you complete this step: i may be wrong here but i believe the ball stud and tower screw are slightly different sizes and threaded slightly differently. you can install fairly easily but it may mess with the threading. this may cause problems with aluminum shock towers for obvious reasons so proceed with caution. once again, i may be completely wrong on this issue but just thought i'd mention it.

the lower portion of the shocks come installed with a small ball bearing which is drilled for a screw that mounts to the shock tower. the lower screw, however, is a lot smaller than the threading for the tower, so it will not directly fit. to get around this, just pop out the ball bearing and use the stock rc18t ball stud. it's slightly bigger but should go on with a bit of elbow grease. just be a little careful.

and that's pretty much it. you are now ready to rock.

how it performs: pretty good, so far. i decided to go with the integy's because of it's mostly aluminum construction and preinstalled tension adjuster. the handling is grealy improved. I also got these mainly because the stock shock's bottom retainer cap fell off incredibly easily, and i eventually ended up losing one of them. the integy uses the same design, and although it's a bit more sturdy, it will still fall off. tightening the tension helps but not much. if you plan to do a lot of bashing and jumping, i'd probably reccommend sticking with the stockers, ca'ing the retainer caps and getting stiffer springers. If you plan to race on a track, these are a must have. i'll post pics later if anyone is interested
