I spent last night and today CAD'ing the stock motor plate for the Mini-T (Pic attached). The plan is to modify it to allow me to make Motor-Plates for the Mini-T that allow a 540 size motor.
I am curious on how many if any people would me interested in this? I should have the CAD drawing for 540 size plates done soon. I need to order some new cutting bits for my mill before I can cut these out. The bits I have are way to big for these little holes.
Also what would a motor plate like this be worth?
Thanks! And will post the 540 size plate when I am done CAD'ing it.

i got 2 questions for ja how much did your mill cost. And when your done with the 540 mini-t plate could you scan it and give me the actual size so i could try to cut one out my selph?

I do not have a scanner yet. When I moved I got rid of my old one.
As for cost on machineing equipment - I do not post what I spent, sorry.

I am in the Uk and you are in the US. The currency is completely different and what things are worth are different too. So for cost and stuff on machining equipment, you really need to research all that on your own. Sorry - But I am not sure what you will find them in the US for. When I was last in the US these kinds of mills ran around 4 or 5 thousand dollars. But that was a few years ago. Here in the UK the costs are not the same. I bought mine in Scottland.

ok thanks and um hey do you have a digital camera if you do you could take a picture of the engine mount and compare it on the screne and if it matches you could just send me the pic.

Just take your stock plate and trace it and then make holes ofr a 540 motor and cut it out. That is how I made this one. ;)
I posted this trying to figure out if they are worth even worth the trouble. Nothing more. I am writing an article for a magazine - That is what started me doing this. I thought it would be cool to do a 540 converted MiniT. :)
To do one by hand - if you have a stock MiniT motor plate, you can do what I said above. if you can't do that, then me scanning it or taking pics will not help you at all.

Studysession, with the motor like that, wouldnt be more prone to damage from debris, water etc? Also does it do nice wheelies?
:)

YES it would be more prone to damage. I have seen a few 540's mounted same way but I have seen one where it is mounted above the tranny behind the rear body posts.
I am thinking of making two and comparing to see what does better.
The motor plate I showed in the pictures, I hand made on the mill. Not CNC'ed - but am making one to be CNC'ed soon. That is purpose of that CAD drawing is to modify it now to allow it to be CNC'ed.
But anyhoo -
The one in the pic attached here is the one done by hand. I have not driven it yet. The idea was to size it up and see if and how it would fit. I think above the tranny will be my prefered method. Will post updates and notes here in the thread. I have not driven this yet. Just made it to size things up.
When I get one where I drive it, I will make a video and post it here as well.

I have not done much with it since. I fitted everything and plan to eventually make a new plate for it. Right now just busy on other projects. Cheers

I am in the middle of moving. It will be a long time before my machining equipment arrives to my new place, much less getting it setup back up once it does arrive will be much later.

Right after the mini-t came out I did a rather crude 540 conversion on an old sport 2 motor plate using a dremel. Anybody can do it with a dremel and the right piece of metal.

yeah and 5 lbs of lead in the front to help it steer and keep the front wheels down......... pointless if you ask me....

studysession are you still making these?
if so how much are you charging
have you had a go with it, how does it drive/handle?
did you have to make a custom motor gaurd?
