Ok, so I picked up my RC18T today and I am already thinking of how to waterproof my electronics.

What have you guys done... Pics would be great!

wrap esc and receiver up in a ballon and silicon seal the end

Can I see pics? Where do the wires come out? Through the silicone?

Is there a cleaner way to do this? (ex. shrink wraping?)

just put the electronic you want too water proof in a balloon and have the wires coming out of the opening to the balloon. You can either use silicon or do what i do and just zip tie the opening, then use double sided foam tape to put it in its location.

Nice I will try that soon!

I would always run a bead of silicone over where the case halves of the electronics meet then smooth it out and then encase it in a balloon and silicone and ziptie it closed. May seem overkill but I felt better this way.

i think i will use the silicon trick myself because water and electronics dont mix at all. You can never take too many precautions, better safe then sorry.

Was the factory seal on it? The one I got didn't and I opened the box to check everything and the battery was missing. Turns out the shop I bought mine at had to sell someone one and they didn't have any so the raided a box. Luckily they had an unopened one and I checked it there and everything was ok.

But I want a balloon with mine. lol

Say what? They were going to sell you the truck without the battery? And they raided the battery themselves? Thats a little bit messed up. If it was an honest mistake or they let you know that truck wasn't coming with one, that would be a different story. Imagine if someone very new to our hobby bought that one and didn't get the battery that's supossed to be included. Very bad expeirence. Maybe it was honestly overlooked? Have you known them to be reputable? It just buggers me a little when people try to take advantage of others, esspecially when they know they can. Sorry about the mindless dribble, kinda had a bad day to boot.

I don't think a ballon would have made up for the battery. Good thing you checked first. They should have given you 2 ballons and a lollipop so you wouldn't tell anyone about what they almost did. :D

Big-Kid, arent you on one18th also, if your the same person then im happy to see you on this forum. What i really think happened, a customer had a bad battery pack and so the employees that work at the shop swapped it out with a new one out of a new unopened box, just to make the irritated customer happy.:D

It was an honest mistake, think it was a lack of communication with people who worked there. They were nice about it and apoligized repeatedly.

It's not my lhs, I had to go 40 or so miles out of the way cause no one in Fresno had an 18t and I didn't have the patience to wait till the middle of the week to get one.

Its good to hear they were nice about it. If the one with the battery missing was their last one, would you still have bought it? I don't know if I would have been able to wait either:p . I snagged the last one at the time i bought mine so I was "chosen" a red truck. I probably would've driven 40 miles to get it also, or swim if I had to.

Yup alfred, its little old me. I've been here for a little while, just a little quieter. Graix has a hard time keeping me "quiet:D . I like it here, just that when I got my RC18 I started to talk a bit more and the RC18 forum over there is pretty busy, so it makes it intresting. See ya around:p .

When i got the 18t they were all out, except for the display model. I know the manager at my lhs and i told him that i couldnt wait for them to get more and asked if i could buy the display model. He said sure, but it has been banged up a bit from the kids that test it out, i was like okay since nothing stays stock for long. At the end of the day after work i got too run it and i was just wowed, took all the electronics off and used my own. Im glad everything worked out for you MoralThreat, and yes i know how you feel of not waiting, i would've bought it with or without the batt.
