I'm not sure who it was that originally had this idea but I saw someone on this forum had ditched the original battery pack and made a saddle pack for their truck. That was about a month ago that I saw that post. It definitely piqued my curiosity when I saw that persons setup. So last weekend I decided to give it a try for myself. I've been driving my TLT with the saddle pack setup for a week now and I have to say that it's better all around compared to the battery in the back setup.
Everything that was mentioned in that first post by the person who came up with that idea is true. The truck is more controllable now since it doesn't wheelie all the time. The truck just seems more stable with the weight distributed more evenly and the center of gravity lowered. Also I would definitely have to say that it's climbing ability is improved since before. Now instead of flipping over onto it's back when driving over a box that I have, it actually makes it up and over. The improved looks of mounting the body much lower are alone well worth the effort required to do the saddle packs. So for all of you seriously considering this setup but have been putting it off, I highly recommend this setup to you.
By the way, if you shop at Hobbytown then pick up the next issue of Hobby Outlook when you're there. It's free and you can critique my review of the TLT-1 :)
