Hi All, we'd like to hear if people would be interested in having a Shop as part of the site. Our focus would be providing commodity parts at the lowest prices in the US, sourcing rare and exotic parts that aren't available elsewhere in the US, or both. What would people like to see?

*edit* stock parts would also be a nice thing to have if some one wants to buy some stock parts for spare or somthing.

I had a thought, let me know what you guys think of this; instead of having a traditional shop, how about a kind of buying club for Forums members? What this would mean is people would group together to save money on parts. I haven't quite figured out the logistics yet, but my thought is that we'd for example list a one way diff at $30 if one person where to buy it, but the price would go down as the number of buyers increased. So if 30 people were to buy it, the price might go down to $25 etc. Who would be interested in something like this? Or would people rather just have a traditional shop?

Correct. Current concerns are: payment method - everyone okay with PayPal? And combining items: should we just do it once or twice a month and then you could get say 5 parts at the same time and ship them together, or should it be more frequent (which would mean less people/discount and less chance of shipping items together)?

payment method-never used paypal, usually phone in and use credit card number

that is a really good idea i think, but you should make people pay for a member ship or somthing for it then you could get some money towards the site or whatever...

Cool; well, we have the following Integy items on the way anyway:

Alloy Motor Mount II
Alloy Pinion Set (11-14T and 8-10T)
Ball Diff Set
F&R Spring Set
Foam Bumper
F Spring Set
Oneway Diff

And also have partnerships already with Squat, Powerline and others, so they will be available too. Working on getting GH also.

Yeah you got to get GH, as much as I dis Canada, GH has good stuff and good prices. I also like using paypal. also see if you can get some 300 motors.

While the "group purchasing" idea is a really good one, do you think it is realistic and enduring? It has been my experience that getting a group of people together to do anything at the same time is difficult. And the people doing it may constitute a small group that would soon buy everything they want and would not have any use for a group buying program.

I do love the idea of a shop. The client base this site has seems to be large. If your business is good, you should be able to keep the prices relatively low.

JasonD i think i disagree b/c we are all members here and the buying dates would be set then if you miss the date than you miss the date. And because we are not talking about yourmicro.com becoming a large retail store i do not see much risk involved. just my two cents

Our first shipment of Integy parts arrives Monday. At the moment we won't be publicizing it much so that Forum Members get first dibs. Our current plan is to simply offer the best prices on parts, and add the "group buy" functionality once we figure out the best way of doing it (while still maintaining an inventory of "instant buy" parts). We're currently thinking that the group buys will be used mostly for special/rare/import parts.

Squat do make parts but the coolest thing they make is bodies (e.g. Ferrari 360 Modena, Nissan 300ZX, 350).

Sheesh... I just ordered the Ratzax pan chassis...et al... from speedster... that would have been my 1st suggestion... I know my future purchases will be one of the ARM bodies... as well as the new Hitec Lynx radio system... unsure of the timing on that tho.. depends on the company bonus... Seems the HS-81MG is popular, as well as the LRP quantum Micro reverse ESC, however, I have both already.

I'm unclear on what range of hop-ups, etc. your intending to target... so I may be off base... definitely belts, tires, and exotic stuff would draw attention...

when i toyed with slots, we use to order from this kewl place called HO Sherm, he'd throw in some freebies, which created many more orders from us... just another thought... everyone likes freebies...

I'd say a good selection of bodies for sure because they need replacing from time to time, and they're relatively inexpensive. Other things like esc and batts. last a long time, so once your all setup, it's tough to justify buying more. Also good to stock would be tires, wheels, bumpers, CA glue and maybe screw sets (colors if possible)and other generally expendable items. It's hard to please everyone, so these are just ideas.

Hey guys, I sent an e-mail straight to GPM asking about the Upper Arm + Damper Set (X Pattern Shocks) and whether they would allow me order directly from them if I was to arrange a group buy. Hey yourmicro, I want to get a GPM front gear box, Would rather it in silver but dont matter to much, do you know when you will have them in? or the integy one or whatever brand, dont matter. And could you get team hommies ball bearings? I dont like ebay so thats why I dont get them off there

i think the bulk buy is a good idea, but what if someone just wants a little part fast and doesnt mind spending an extra buck to get a pinion sooner. i think that in addition to the bulk bying thing, there should also be a fully stalked normal store. i know you already have one, and i am gunna go check it out now. i hope it has more stuff then it had last time i checked (which was quite a while ago, lol)
