I have compiled several tips on setting up tracks.
If you can, find a track that is already racing touring cars and try to use that before maintenance takes down the track.
Lay out a homemade track with masking tape on a smooth surface.
Masking tape will suit you just fine, but you might want to use old off-road tires, long wooden dowels, wooden boards, or the like for barriers.
Sometimes you might be able to get in some run time on an empty road.
To simulate car commercials, wet down your driveway, put out some cones, and turn on the camcorder :D
Buying ozite from a retail carpet dealer (ie: Carpetland) and taping (not glueing) it down to your garage floor works nicely for a shaded area to set up a decent track.
Never play chicken with a semi.
