The elite mod is probably the hottest motor for that size w/o going brushless.... just be careful putting the pinion on....they slip and you can't get it any tighter with out stripping the hole for the set screw... I'm waiting for a response now about how to combat that

You can also take a dremel and grind a flat spot on the shaft of your motor. This helps also!:D

Really??? I used that motor for a while and never had that problem. What type of pinion do you use? I use the HPI steel gears, I've shattered one or two, but never stripped the set-screw threads. I always use a "dab" of thread lock and tighten down as much as I can but as to not put too much preasure on something. Its always worked out for me. Unless you're talking about the mounting holes, now that I've stripped a few times (sorry a$$ plastic mounting ring).
Anyway, just my thoughts.......:)

You can't use the HPI steel gears on the Xray....

Found out the prob;em...it wasn't the pinion slipping...it was the motor not turning... I think I did something "funky" to the brushes and it ended up not having enough torque to turn the motor...
:(.. I replaced te brushes because the tabs broke(I had the oplder model) and I guess I did something wrong...
I got a new motor and now it works great
