Why do people do this? Bidding war for a Flash ESC that probably will have problems. The "new" ESCs' with the bugs worked out will not be shipped until next week according to Team Orion.

I agree, it's nonsense. I don't think the "new" parts are any better of deal than at the local hobby shop. Plus the shipping thing..........GEEEZ

tax is about the same.

"sure to make your Micro scream" (at you for buying a recalled ESC)

i agree i do the same i check around on prices before i bid.some of the sellers offer free s&h,and sometimes mail order companies charge more for s&h than the part costs.

You are right about it being stupid. But no one forced them into the bidding war. In the end there is no monopoly on stupidity.

I wrote him an email told him he overpaid and invited him to the forum.

Another factor that raises bids are schills, a major issue for eBay. You never know if the highest bid is the seller or someone bidding the price up for the seller, hoping to sucker others into a higher bid.

Doing your homework first is the best advice. Recently I questioned two sellers that were selling used Novak XXL TX 75mHz with no xtal with opening bids of $65. Would you believe they never replied.

even if somthing is really cheap on ebay i would rather not buy it because im scared to get ripped off

I personally think they sometimes bid on their own stuff to drive up the price. I could be wrong though

I wouldnt doubt it, its a smart thing to do. But i personally would not do it because some one might not have much money and need it really bad or whatever.

I do a lot of buying on ebay and there are a lot of dishonest people who will set up different identities to bid on their own stuff or have their friends bid on it to drive up the price. I've kept my eye on a few people and the same people over and over again bid on their stuff. They think that they're slick, but they're not. However, a good majority of people are honest on ebay. I've only been ripped off once ever since I've used ebay. Just be sure to look at a seller's feedback before bidding to see what type of repeat problems this person may have. And most importantly, don't get caught up in the bidding war. Set a max price you will pay for an item and if you get outbid, so be it. You'll find the same item up for sale tomorrow from someone else.

if ur selling check the buyer ratings and dont bid till there is 10 seconds left "tip from my mom she buys and sells books on ebay for a hobby"

ive bought and sold a ton of stuff there and have never been ripped off. just do some homework before bidding. i think alot of people just dont want to lose so they keep bidding. i lost on a 1/43 INdoor racer last week, someone wanted to pay more for it than i did. what bay1219 said in his last two sentences is exactly right.
